Just wondering whether it’s too soon for a thread on this yet?! Anyone else already thinking about getting started?

We’re ttc at the end of the year. How are you feeling? Is this the first time you’re ttc?

SoonToBeMissus · 13/08/2025 16:36

Great to hear from you! Yes, this will be our first? How about you?

I’m feeling super impatient to get started if I’m honest. However we’re about to head over to The Seychelles for our wedding and it’s now a Zika zone (very frustratingly it wasn’t when we booked and we chose it largely because of that, but things have changed…). So the guidance is that we’ll need to wait three months on returning to start TTC. That’ll take us pretty much to the end of the year too.

This will be my second child but 4th pregnancy as we lost a couple of babies before having my DS

I can totally relate, only reason we are holding off is also due to going abroad! Congratulations on your wedding I hope everything goes smooth.

Are you going to take prenatal vitamins before you start ttc? I’ve been advised 3 months before ttc is best but that seems a bit extreme to me!

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had losses 💜. Wonderful that you have your DS though. How old is he?

Ironically I wasn’t sure before about TTC immediately after getting married. Yet now that it’s officially not recommended I’m desperate to start!

I’ve just been looking at prenatal vitamins this afternoon and have ordered some to start taking in September once we’re back in the UK. I’ve been reading about how it takes around 90 days for eggs and sperm to form so am planning on generally trying to live as healthily possible in the run-up to trying.

I don’t want to drive my poor fiancé crazy with all my TTC chat though so I figured I’d start a thread here instead…

He is almost 3!

The waiting is so hard isn’t it, but you definitely will find that it comes around so quick!

Are you going to use ovulation tests from the get go or just see how you get on?

SoonToBeMissus · 14/08/2025 20:09

That sounds like a nice age gap with your DS being fairly independent by the time a baby comes.

I just ordered a fertility thermometer yesterday. It arrived this afternoon which has been exciting! I’m planning to try using it once we’re back from holiday, mainly just to get some reassurance for now that I’m ovulating OK (🤞).

Did you do much to plan and prepare last time round?

How are you doing @Pinklemonade37 ?

We tied the knot yesterday so I need to think of a new username…

Just wondered if there’s anyone else around who is interested in joining?

Definitely start a minimum of 3 months beforehand. Like PP said, your first egg will have been developing for three months and benefitting from your lifestyle changes then. Same for your OH.
