I am waving to the majority of you from across the Atlantic!!!
Blows Kisses

Here's my story in a nutshell:

Had first son, Morgan, on my 20th birthday,(--->age 19,unprotected relations one time= an "oops" conception!) 14 yrs ago.
Uneventful, healthy first pregnancy.

I split up with his dad, but we remained close, and reconciled 5 yrs later.

One month after reconciling, we became (intentionally)pregnant with #2 son, Calum (on VERY FIRST Cycle trying, BTW)
This pregnancy brought Gestational Diabetes (-shot insulin every day-).Hospitalized overnight at 19 & 1/2 wks due to strong, early contractions/threatened delivery) Disaster was narrowly averted and labour was induced on his due date.
*Breastfed (-both boys-)until almost three years, respectively.

Due to the ten year gap between Callie and his older bro, we wanted the third/final child spaced more closely to Calum. My periods returned in a regular fashion when Callie was 9 mos...that is when we began trying.
Thought it would be almost effortless, judging by our history...
~boy were we in for a disappointment!~

FAST FORWARD:

Calum will be four in July.
Still NOTHING.[]

I first thought my prolactin was too high, due to my extended breastfeeding. It has now been a year since he's been weaned, and prolactin ought not be an issue.According to my LH test strips, I DO NOT OVULATE AT ALL!
My periods come at regular intervals, but they are (sorry if TMI) dark (almost tar-like) and very clotty. The scant, blackish stuff comes first, last for three days or more, then comes the copious clotty junk.In total, they last for approx 7-8 days.

I am SOOO frustrated!
Just turned 34.

Currently awaiting second round of blood tests. Doc wanted these taken between cycle day 2-4.

Anyone out there in a similar situation or know someone who had similar experience with secondary infertility?
Please feel free to comment.

I am so happy to have found you all here.
This is a great forum!

I am so sorry for your situation.
I am going through hell atm.
Been ttc for 9 months with no luck.
Periods are irregular never know when to expect one.
I am undergoing blood tests atm and I am also now under the care of a ferility clinic.
I will probably sound very negative here but I have a strong hunch that its too late for me.
Its totally crap the lot of it.

Hi ! Welcome - I am in a similar position - have conceived 2 pregnancies in 1-2 months although lost the second one. Since m/c I have been trying for almost 2 years to no avail.

Its so frustrating isn't it. Glad you are being looked into medically and hopefully its more efficient than our dear old NHS system .

Good luck !

Hi Chuffy,

I am another currently experiencing secondary infertility. I have one daughter (fell pg 2nd cycle with her) and like you wanted to conceive another shortly after.

She will be 3 in 2 weeks so I feel your frustration!

With the LH test strips I would'nt worry too much if you are not getting a positive as I have read that people have lots of issues with these. Have you tried checking cervical mucus or temp charting?

You said you are about to have your day3 tests have you had a day21 test yet to see if you have ovulated? Also has your partner had any investigations so far?

I have been in a major panic this week as my blood tests could be indicating a problem with my ovarian reserve etc. However, I am trying to focus on what my body is telling me - I am having signs of ovulation each month and my cycle is roughly 28-33 days. I have started using the test strips this month but its out of curiousity, I'm not going to rely on those to say if i have ovulated or not. (Please remind me I said that if you see me posting moaning because I cant get a positive strip!!!)

Take care
