Early testing or waiting until later??

I’m on cycle 16 TTC. I’ve been an early tester, daily from 8/9DPO for while, but starting to a) lose hope and b) realise how much I’m spending on (easy at home) tests.

Some people seem to wait until later before testing, I’m wondering if that’s more sensible! Waiting until say 12/13DPO or even missed period. I just usually can’t resist the urge - sometimes I think it’s just habit or boredom too.

I’ve previously thought that I’d rather manage my expectations and know it’s negative earlier, but I’ve done more research about the likelihood of a later BFP (implantation between days 6-12, normally 8-10 though, and a couple of days for hcg to rise) and therefore testing 8-10dpo means there’s a good chance of a BFN even if it will turn possible. So why don’t I just wait?

what do others do? Any tips on waiting to test later?

I’ve seen on Instagram lots of couples looking at the test together. I tend to just test on my own frequently and tell DH if good news or when it gets to and of luteal phase and no BFP. I feel like looking together feels a lot of pressure but also it’s his potential baby too - so maybe waiting until the end of luteal phase (12/13DPO) and doing it together is the solution

Sorry you’re having this stress OP and really hoping you get your BFP soon 🤍

I don’t have any good advice on holding off but just wanted to say please don’t let social media make you feel pressured into anything - the majority of people only post the good stuff and film private moments in a certain way for the views. For me, testing together every month would as you say put the pressure on and make it an even bigger deal which certainly isn't for everyone

Sending lots of love x
