Cycles after mmc

Hi, I’m just wondering what people’s cycles were like after a mmc.
I had one in March, which I firstly had medical management for, that didn’t work and I ended up having surgical management due to a lot of retained tissue in April.
my period returned 32 days later, then my next cycle was 33 days long.

This cycle was when we decided we would ttc again, but from using opks it looks like I may not of ovulated this time (I did ovulate on my cycle before this one) I did get a very strong positive on day 30 but I’m not sure if that was a surge before af. I’m currently on day 33 but have none of my usual af symptoms. Normally my boobs are really hurting after ovulation up until af but nothing.

Ive read a lot about it taking months for some ladies cycles to return to normal, or to ovulate at all and it’s really scared me. Unfortunately my ttc journey is on quite a tight timeline as I’m on a tamoxifen break. I’m just losing a little hope.

Sorry for the long post. 🩷

Hey lovely
So sorry for your loss ♥️
I had surgery for MMC in May. I think I ovulated around CD 27 following my surgery and then had a period 10 days later. This is my second cycle (first proper one) and I didn’t ovulate until CD 31! I’m guessing it might take time to settled back down again?

@CTTat thank you so much for replying. And I’m so sorry you’ve been through a mmc too ❤️ I hope you’re doing ok.

oh really? Do you just use opks to track your ovulation? Maybe that’s what’s happened with me this time, my darkest opk I got this cycle was on day 30, but I didn’t get my usual ovulation symptoms. I will just patiently wait for af to turn up.

yeah I think you’re right, our body’s have been through a lot, and I suppose our hormones must be a bit all over the place. Hopefully it won’t take too long for things to settle back to normal.

Can’t speak for a full cycle yet as my MMC was end of June but I bled for 4 weeks exactly (expectant management) and simultaneously had a negative test, negative ovulation test and bleeding stopped. During that time I was also stressing over when would things start to return to normal.
2 days later I then surprisingly had a positive OPK which was then much higher than usual the following day and still high and positive (but lower than the first day) on day 3 which was unusual for me.
Just waiting for AF now though we did try during the positive OPKs I have no expectations for this cycle. Cramping started yesterday and backache today so signs of being towards the end of the cycle which would generally align with the 10 day luteal phase I had before the MC if I ovulated Monday or Tuesday last week. I don’t have sore boobs yet though which I usually got before so some things have definitely varied.
agree with @CTTat it seems so hard to predict anything in the early days after a MC. Just trying to go with it and hope it settles soon! X

@Ottie12 yep I’ve just been using OPKs I have started taking my temp since ovulating but it’s a bit all over the place as it’s school holidays so I’m not setting an alarm and getting up at normal time.
@Catmum92 sorry for your loss too ♥️

Ive been having a look at seed cycling as a natural way to try and support my hormones it’s very simple and not too expensive. Worth a google.

@Catmum92 I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️ i hope you’re doing ok.
I feel like this is me, i had some backache and cramping a few days ago but these aren’t my typical pre af symptoms, mine are really tender boobs and a headache that lasts a couple of days. But I’ve not had either of those.
it really is so hard to predict, and it makes it worse when you really just want things to return to normal, especially when you’re thinking of trying again.

@CTTat ive bought a bbt thermometer for my next cycle so I will see how that goes, im sure it will be something I keep forgetting to do though!

ohh really, I will definitely look at seed cycling, thanks for this! Anything to help!
