Trying for baby number 2, we go on holiday abroad in 13 days.
I am currently CD 13, and will be CD 26 when we go on Holiday for a week taking me to CD 1 when we fly home if my period arrives in time which it doesn’t always.
So my question is would you have unprotected sex this month based on these dates or use protection?
I am thinking it would be ok to carry on having unprotected sex?
WWYD?

Why wouldn’t you? It won’t be dangerous to fly at that gestation. You might not even have any symptoms.

Mushroo · 30/07/2025 21:55

I don’t really get the question?

Do you mean because you want to drink alcohol on the holiday?

user1478188491 · 30/07/2025 21:56

Sorry yes, not the fact it would be dangerous to fly!
The fact it would be an all inclusive holiday, whilst trying to conceive x

Ooh exciting! I’m not sure why you wouldn’t though? Are you doing something on holiday you really wouldn’t want to be in early stages of pregnancy for? Or are you worried about flying whilst pregnant?

ooooohlala · 30/07/2025 22:02

Pregnant women go on holiday all the time? This really isn’t something to worry about.

Springadorable · 30/07/2025 22:03

If you're drinking any fertilised egg would be less likely to implant, but if it did it wouldn't be damaged.

Groundhogday2025 · 30/07/2025 22:04

I would. Until you have a positive result you have to assume you aren’t pregnant. You don’t go on holiday every day and need to enjoy yourself, especially if it’s likely to be your last holiday before baby number 2.
You have to think about all the people who don’t know they are pregnant and the things they do or consume! My DD was… unexpected let’s say. I have photos of me drinking prosecco at a girlie brunch literally days before my positive test and would have been pregnant at the time and didn’t know. She’s a happy, perfectly healthy 2.5 year old now. To be honest it didn’t even occur to me to worry about it at the time. I just stopped drinking as soon as I got that second line.

Workworkwork01 · 30/07/2025 22:04

If I really wanted to get pregnant I wouldn’t wait for the sake of wanting a drink on holiday to be honest!

Wafflesandsyrup · 30/07/2025 22:10

Defo still try. Having a holiday to enjoy will take your mind off the tww!

Miraclemuma03 · 31/07/2025 04:20

Im not a drinker so didnt feel as though i wouldnt enjoy myself if i didnt have alcohol so we continued with ivf and did a transfer before our Xmas holiday in November last year. There is lots of things you can do to enjoy yourself on holidays without having to drink but as i said, im not a drinker so dont get the hype around it but if you dont try this cycle then its an entire other cycle you have to wait for when potentially you could fall pregnant this cycle if that makes sense.

Allswellthatendswelll · 31/07/2025 04:25

Just try. It won't affect the fetus that early if you are drinking. There will always be something like a wedding or Christmas. You've got to live your life!

Mushroo · 31/07/2025 07:32

From what I’ve read, drinking in the tww doesn’t harm anything, but does make implantation a bit less likely.

If I were you, I’d have a lovely relaxed holiday, if it happens, great! If not, hit being a bit healthier when you get home

If you’re ttc or planning on ttc is a good idea not to drink much anyway, so I would just reign in drinking in the holiday and carry on.

Hollyhobbi · 31/07/2025 07:54

Jeepers, just avoid alcohol or if you want to drink use protection!

Bumblebee1984 · 31/07/2025 09:29

I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant and conceived this baby on holiday last month. I was around 9/10dpo when I came back and was sure I was pregnant. Took a test and there it was. I think it helped that I was relaxed and enjoying myself. Easiest tww ever. I had a drink most nights at the beginning of the holiday as I knew I wasn't even going to be pregnant yet. I'd say go for it

4naans · 31/07/2025 09:31

Where is the holiday?

Is this an actual fact?…

We’ve actually got this situation. We go on holiday a week before period is due. It’s not necessary the drink and what not for me, it’s more I don’t want to be on holiday getting pregnancy symptoms and worrying about did I conceive this month. So we have decided to ttc when we get back.

Yes. Once the fertilised egg implants it can then be affected by continued drinking, but initially it is just bobbing around letting the body know it exists. But it's less likely to implant if you drink during your luteal phase.
