TTC after missed miscarriage

Hi, I’m very new to the TTC world and tracking my ovulation etc, but I was just hoping for a little advice or reassurance maybe.

I fell pregnant back in January, this unfortunately ended in a missed miscarriage. I had surgical management after failed medical management.

I’ve had two periods since, the second of which I tracked my ovulation just to get an idea of what was going on. My cycle was a little longer than before the mmc, I used to be every 28 days but this time my cycle was 33 days and I ovulated around day 20.

This is now the second cycle I’m tracking after my mmc, and the cycle we decided we’d try again. However I’ve been taking opks from day 5 and there seems to be no sign of a positive opk. I thought I had ovulation pains, but there has been no ewcm or positive opk test and I’m now on day 24.

i guess my questions are, for anyone who has been through a mmc or miscarriage how long did it take for your cycles to return to normal, or for you to conceive again?
is it possible to fall pregnant without a positive opk, could I of missed my peak?

im so sorry for the long post, i feel completely lost atm, i always come here to read through threads and ive finally plucked up the courage to ask for a little help :)

thank you x

I’m having a similar experience, had a MMC with medical management end of May. I’ve had 1 period but I ovulated day 18 and period started day 24. This month I’ve had two LH Peaks the first being day 14 but no ovulation, but my clear blue ovulation test has only just shown positive today which is day 24 and I’ve had clear ovulation pains too, I’ve no idea if I’m coming or going with my cycle. Also noticed ovulation was extremely painful last month and today.

From my research just because you haven’t had a positive opk doesn’t meant you haven’t ovulated and you could well have missed it. You’re not out until Aunt Flo arrives. Don’t give up hope

Out of curiosity what opk are you using? My easy @ home strips are pretty negative this week but clear blue is positive. I’m thinking the easy@home aren’t so reliable

@LilacBow45 thank you so much for replying. It’s so confusing isn’t it, I feel like the mmc has just messed things up a little, which then makes you lose a little faith in your body and what it can do. But I think I will keep testing until af arrived. I suppose our bodies have been through so much, it may take a while for things to settle.

hoping things settle for you and sending you lots of baby dust 🥰

@LilacBow45 im so sorry you’ve experience a mmc too, i hope you’re doing ok.

Aww I’m using some cheapies that I then put through the Premom app. I don’t know if the stress of a holiday has delayed things, or maybe being away from home and not being in a normal routine has meant I’ve not caught my peak, but all we can do is BD when we can and hope for the best. I wish I’d of tracked my bbt but I’m so new to all this, maybe I will do that next cycle.
you’re told not to stress but is so hard not to.

Hi, so sorry to hear what you're going through.
I had a MMC and my periods cake back after 2 months. That's when I decided to start tracking using basal body temp instead of opks and I found it so much more accurate. It took a couple of months to get a clear picture of what was happening but it made me realise I was ovulating at different time to what I thought. Tue next month we aimed for that time and I got pregnant straight away.
I used fertility friend app but there's probably loads more!

@User415373 thank you so much for replying. I’m so sorry you’ve been through mmc too, huge congratulations on your pregnancy! 🥰

I think bbt is what I will do next time, I feel like it’s so easy to mess up the opks. Do I need a specific thermometer for measuring bbt, I’m so new to this. I just want to make sure I have as much info as possible each cycle, so if by some miracle I do fall pregnant again I have all the info possible and can extra support if needed.

its so encouraging to hear that you are pregnant 🥰 hoping everything is going ok for you xx

Thanks @Ottie12 , that pregnancy is a 4yo now and I also had another baby 18 months later, again very quickly using bbt. I got one on Amazon, just type in bbt thermometer and any will do. It's one that goes under your tongue for an accurate measurement. You have to do it at the same time every day, when you're not busy or active .I used to do as soon as I woke up. Good luck, conceiving after mmc is mentally very hard but statistically you are extremely likely to go on to have a healthy pregnancy!

Ottie12 · 27/07/2025 11:35

Thank you so much @User415373 it really is very hard mentally, what should be so exciting has become really scary. But I’m going to keep as positive as I can :)
that’s great, I’m definitely going to start tracking my bbt, I think that will be a better method for me, the OPKs can be a little tricky to keep up with, and to get the timing right.
