No bleed after progesterone withdrawal?

Hi everyone, I have pcos and have done the progesterone challenge several times before. Each time I bled 5 days after stopping the progesterone pill (which I only took like once a year because I otherwise have regular periods around 39 days)

this time I am on day 9 after my last pill and I still haven’t bled. I had some spotting the first day after stopppng, and that’s it. I’ve had heavy cramping past few days and have had tender breasts for the past week (started AFTER I stopped the pills). I’m so upset and confused because my partner and I are waiting for my period to start so we can begin our first letorzole cycle.

the cycle before this I actually got pregnant naturally but it was a chemical. I do ovulate most of the time, as confirmed by ultrasounds through my clinic, and blood work.

is there still a chance I’ll bleed? I know this can happen if estrogen is low but my lining has always shown up as thick on scans, last month as well. It’s usually almost 9mm

edit: I’ve taken pregnancy tests and they are all negative

Is there a chance your progesterone is still too high? Can you get blood work done to check where your hormone levels are?

That sounds likely to be honest, because my breasts are still really sore. If it is too high, it’s just a matter of waiting then? Idk how it would even stay high for so long.

i could let my fertility clinic know tomorrow but im worried they will make me do the whole thing again and that will take more time

My clinic just test progesterone when im really late for a bleed and this gives them a rough estimate on how much longer until my hormones are back at baseline. Missed an entire cycle and when I had blood work done my progesterone was still at 10 so too high for a bleed, they just tracked it until it was all but at zero and then I started a bleed. Maybe this is something your clinic can offer.

I started to bleed the evening I made this post lol, typical. Thank you for your help :) I guess it can take a while for progesterone to come back down
