Negative test 5 days before period

Hi all,

just wondering at what stage in your cycle did you get your BFP?

I am currently 9 days PO and did a test this morning and it was negative. This is second cycle trying.

I am feeling quite stressed by it all this time. I had a miscarriage before my son was born. Then I got pregnant with him on the first try, well I got pregnant with the one I miscarried and my son both of the first try. So I stupidly expected the same.

But Yes, just wondering how early did your test pick up a positive?

I did ovulation tests this month to have more a rough idea.

5 days before your period is due is still very early to be testing. Most tests recommend waiting until your period is late so could retry in a few more days. Try not to be so hard on yourself, most couples take more than 1-2 months, that's totally normal. Its such early days I would really try to enjoy the process and keep optimistic. I was still negative at 10DPO, then waited 4 days and got a BFP then so there's still plenty of time for you. Best of luck😊

5 days early is ridiculously early, sorry OP. I hate these 'early detection' tests that promise to show a positive earlier and earlier. All they do is feed into people's anxiety and hope.

Wait until you are late to test - that is when is is most accurate. I know the wait is awful, but it will be much more accurate. Personally, I didn't get a positive until 3 days late.

I did a clear blue ultra early test 5 days before my period (it says it can be done then as it’s supposed to be really sensitive). It was negative. I’d pretty much written off that cycle but I did another one three days later and it was positive. I believe I was 8dpo when I got the negative and 11dpo when I got the positive. So it might just be too early for you.

I think because we’ve had to wait a year to try with wedding, honeymoon, and other things that came up, my son he’s 4 now and I don’t want a huge age gap so I feel I’m putting this pressure on myself but I know I need to stop and enjoy the ride haha!

I think because of my previous miscarriage I just hold a lot of anxiety around trying now.

@TallulahBetty Yeah i know it’s early! I think it’s because my two friends who are pregnant both tested positive at 5 days before their period, so kinda got my hopes up in that haha. But I know everyone is different!
