Chemical pregnancy?

Hi all,

I had a chem pregnancy in December last year, a miscarriage in May. I also had a previous miscarriage in March 2023.

The top tests are from Tuesday night (8dpo) and Wednesday morning (9dpo) the clear blue early detection is today (11dpo) I thought it would be darker by now as it’s an early detection test, so I’m worried it’s another chemical unfortunately.

Any insights appreciated. I’m 39 and have one DD who is 3.5.

It's so hard to compare tests that aren't the same brand for line progression. I am 12 dpo today and was surprised at how light my line still is.

I actually looked up "line progression" videos on tik tok today and it gave me reassurance of how light lines are this early on. You could also spot how quick it can jump to a darker line. Maybe you will find comfort in that if you look it up.

Fingers crossed for a happy and healthy pregnancy and baby for you!

Everythingisokay · 04/07/2025 19:12

I wouldn't be writing this off as a chemical. I think the lines are not bad for where you're at and wishing you all the best.

P.s. I'm in somewhat similar situation in terms of having one LO, having had 3 chemicals and one MMC and also having tested positive on Tuesday!

@EMC2022 yes I agree, I spoke to my friend about it today and she told me that red dye is more sensitive than blue dye. That’s interesting about the line progression - I’ll look it up. Thanks so much for responding.

@Everythingisokay thank you for the reassurance. I’m so in my own head about it all and every time I tell myself I won’t be, but it’s impossible not to be anxious when you’ve experienced loss.
Aww congratulations - I’m wishing you all the best and a healthy, happy pregnancy x

Thanks and I wish you the same.

It's so hard once you had previous bad experience, isn't it. I think we just view things differently as our minds naturally jump to the worst case scenario at every step, and especially in the early days.

LilacHearts · 04/07/2025 20:12

@Everythingisokay its so so hard. This is no detriment to anyone who hasn’t suffered a loss, but I think unless you’ve been through it, it’s hard to understand. One of my friends keeps telling me stay calm and distract myself, but it’s so much easier said than done.

I totally agree.
The comments from people who haven't experienced it can be totally wild 😔

Update: bottom test today is 13dpo and yesterday’s is 12dpo. Keeping my fingers crossed the line keeps getting darker.

That's great @LilacHearts
Your tests are looking perfect.
Congrats again!

Everythingisokay · 06/07/2025 11:54

@LilacHearts looking good!

I retested yesterday at 12 DPO and it was also darker than 10 DPO. Will wait for couple days before retesting again.

Miraclemuma03 · 06/07/2025 12:44

They are definitely positive. Have you tried testing with a frer. Id say your line on a frer would be much darker and show much better progression. I find these cheapie tests need a high amount of hcg for the test line to darken so the progression is slower.

kl44 · 06/07/2025 15:28

I’ve just made a post about line progression and seeing your strip tests has made me feel a little better these strips were this morning at 12DPO ish & the FRER is from this afternoon!

Fingers crossed they get darker. I think I’ve made the mistake of using different brands and it’s fully put my head in a spin. I did a clearblue digital and it said ‘pregnant 1-2’.

I’m so anxious, so keeping up with testing is the only thing keeping me sane-ish!

Ok, this has actually made me feel a lot better. Maybe I should get the FRER. I don’t love the Clearblue tests, apart from the digital ones. Congrats and wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy ✨

Thank you! I definitely would it’s way darker than any line I’ve had on any others! Although I couldn’t find the FRER in the shops I had to order from Amazon 🤷🏻‍♀️ I hope you have a happy healthy 9 months too 😁xx

Totally get you as I'm the same.
After previous experiences, I'll keep retesting for a while yet and will book an early scan when appropriate.

Fingers crossed for us both 💕

@EMC2022 @Everythingisokay @kl44
how are you all doing today?
I have come down with an awful fever and body aches 😭 which is the last thing I need right now. Not a good line progression today either so feeling pretty sorry for myself.

Hey

Do you have pics? Just in case it's worse in your head than it appears. Also, you tested yesterday too, right? So when you're comparing yesterday's and today's tests, there's won't be much difference as you need to leave at least a day's gap for a clearer progress 💕
Lots of tea, cosy socks and bed rest for you today.
So many bugs going around

kl44 · 07/07/2025 18:57

Honestly wouldn’t worry, strips were yesterday FRER was yesterday & then my clear blue went up this morning too (strips still the same 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m ok feeling a bit bunged up & exhausted at the moment though 😴xx

@Everythingisokay yeah that is true, I am my own worst enemy to keep testing everyday, I think it’s because when I had my MC in May I had a dye stealer at 15dpo. I need to stop comparing it. It feels like Covid which I also had in 2021 when I was pregnant with my DD. Here’s a pic…FMU x

@kl44 that’s crazy that the strips are so faint but everything else looks great! I refuse to buy anymore tests as I’ve already spent £45 🫠
they sound like great signs, I think you’re going to have a happy and healthy 9 months x

All good here thanks. Got a 2 to 3 weeks on a digitalfor the first time this pregnancy. I will say the strip dip test line definitely develop very slowly. On my clear blues its as dark as the control line but the dip tests are no where near it. I really don't think they are the best for day to day line comparison looking at everyone's experience.

I had covid during my first pregnancy and was so nervous but it all worked out fine. Just rest and take care of yourself 😊

Everythingisokay · 07/07/2025 23:32

@LilacHearts tests looking good!

I think it's really exceptional to have a day stealer at 15DPO, I'd view it as an exception, not a norm.

Take a deep breath 💕

These tests for what they are, look great! These tests need huge amounts of hcg to darken to get to the same as the control line. A frer at this point would be much darke. But try not to worry, I know thats hard but so far things are on track.

LilacHearts · 08/07/2025 11:54

@Miraclemuma03 thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for the reassurance. I really appreciate it x
