Hi,

Feeling a bit torn, DH and I would love to try for another baby (currently have DD6) we put off trying earlier due to job loss, house sale falling through etc. Both now in secure jobs with plenty of space, manageable finances but obviously we're quite old.

Health wise DH has no health issues and is a stone overweight, has just had his NHS MoT and no issues.
Im around 4 stone overweight after losing 2 stone, I've just finished C24K and swim twice a week. Im fitter and weight less than my last pregnancy (which had no complications) but again Im 6 years older....I've just had a BUPA health review as we get them through my employer and the results came back fine but I was obviously advised to continue to keep losing weight as Im at a higher risk of weight related issues.

Would it best to wait a few months and lose some weight or start trying now as due to my age the chances of conceiving are small anyway. Or would it be totally selfish to consider either, should I count myself fortunate for one DD and accept its my own fault for leaving it so late to start a family.

If you want another kid I wouldn't hang around. You can continue to lose weight while trying for another.

My honest advice would be to either start trying now and keep up with your lifestyle changes, or to go all in and go on Mounjaro for 6 months or so. It only takes a month to come out of your system, and your weight loss will massively speed up.

I was on Wegovy for a year and lost 3 and a half stone, and that was as a disabled, immobile person on a shit diet. I think it’s given me the best chance to conceive. I’m also older at 40 so need all the help I can get as well.

So yeah, either start trying or go for a big weight loss push. I wouldn’t wait any longer without something like the injection to boost your weight loss as it could be more than a year to lose the weight you want to.
