Anyone else TTC after TFMR Part 2

There was a wonderful thread of the same title going for a couple of years so I thought I'd resurrect it and hopefully this can become a place where women who've gone through a TFMR can come together

I've just had a tfmr due to T21 at 22+4 weeks
It would have been our second child and she was very much wanted - the only thing that's keeping me going is looking to the future and plan for eventually beginning to try again for another
I am 41 and sometimes I despair wondering if its simply too late for us

Anyone want to join me on this journey?

@BloomingOrchidea how are you getting on with your TTC journey after TFMR? I recently had a termination also due to T21, only a few days ago, still getting my head around it all but I grieved a lot before as there was the wait for the procedure which just forced us to come to terms with the decision. I have a 3 year old girl and am 37 and am also concerned that I am on the older side of 35, with higher risks etc, hoping my period doesn’t take too long to come back as want to start trying again soon after. Hoping we can get pregnant in the first few cycles.

Hello can I join? I had a TFMR in January for a very much longed for (4yrs ttc #2) twin pregnancy. It was a c section ectopic that I was trying to continue with but it became too dangerous so I had to have a TFMR at 13 weeks. I’m 43 as well so probably won’t get pregnant again and feeling very unhappy but going to try and hope and pray. I had surgery 4 months after the TFMR to repair the area where they had wrongly implanted . Not feeling very hopeful but going to try and wish

Marvelftw · 24/08/2025 07:53

Had to tfmr just after 12 weeks due to triploidy. It’s really hard especially as my due date is rolling around and I know the girls who were expecting with me are going to be giving birth soon.

Was really hoping I’d get pregnant quickly after we started trying again but we’re on cycle 2 now and I don’t think it’s happened this month either. Waited two cycles before we started trying again and I wish we hadn’t bothered now!

How’s everyone doing? I had a high risk NIPT for T21 result yesterday and am terrified about what comes next. Would love to hear some good news stories x

PleaseJustanotherchance · 31/10/2025 18:39

We are still trying but no luck yet . I keep bursting into tears all the time

Moosey898 · 31/10/2025 19:57

Hi everyone. I am a bit of an anomaly, as I didn't have a TFMR for the baby's health, but they had to deliver my daughter at 22 weeks due to an infection I had that could have threatened my life. It was the worst decision I've ever had to make as she was healthy at the time but wouldn't have survived the infection and being so tiny either, so we both would have died.

I don't really fit in to most trying again groups and was wondering if you minded me joining this thread?

Marvelftw · 01/11/2025 07:29

@Fletchasketch Good luck, I hope you get positive results.

@Moosey898 Of course, anyone who’s had to tfmr is welcome here.

I’m onto cycle 5 now and still no luck. Generally some days are harder than others but I’m still pressing on.

Fletchasketch · 01/11/2025 07:44

@Marvelftw unfortunately this is very unlikely as the NIPT is over 99% accurate. We have accepted that we will very likely have to terminate.

@Moosey898 you have been through so much, I’m so sorry. I spoke to someone from ARC who told me a termination for medical reasons is the worst thing most people will go through and it made me feel oddly justified in my grief.

Sending love to everyone ttc, it is such a rough road, but I’m glad to have found this thread.

Marvelftw · 01/11/2025 08:02

@Fletchasketch Sorry misread, didn’t realise you already had the result. I’m really sorry to hear that, losing a baby you want for whatever reason is so hard x

Fletchasketch · 01/11/2025 08:29

@Marvelftw SO hard. I’m so sorry you’ve been through it too. Hoping that one month soon is your month.

Hi everyone, I know it's been a while since this thread was updated, so hope you're doing well and Christmas wasn't too tough. My last pregnancy sadly ended in a TFMR at 16 weeks for T21 last year. It's been a devstating few months that I wouldn't wish on anyone, but with the new year comes new hope- for us all. I'd love to hear how you're all getting on, wishing you so much luck for this year.

WhiskeyMargot · 28/01/2026 00:12

@Fletchasketch
Hello, I've never posted on here before, even though reading the posts gave me comfort last year. I am 3 months on from my TFMR at 14 weeks and surprised at how I am still struggling inside. I have had 2 periods since and keep believing every symptom might be a pregnancy, so cruel how the symptoms are so similar for that and a period. I think I will feel fine once I am pregnant again and past all the tests, but at the moment I feel very lost and can't look forward to the year. I turn 40 in October so worried about my age too... I just keep hoping I will be pregnant by the planned due date in May so I don't find that as over whelming.

Fletchasketch · 28/01/2026 09:34

@WhiskeyMargot Glad to have you here and at the same time, so sorry to have you here. Our timelines are very similar, I would also have been due in May, so sending some big hugs and solidarity. I can relate so hard to the testing, had my first test post TFMR this morning as I had what I thought were some symptoms, but it was a stark white. I'm consoling myself by thinking that I'd only been back on the high dose supplements for 2 months and so it'll be safer in a month from now. All the best to you and the rest of the group for the next cycle x

WhiskeyMargot · 03/02/2026 17:53

Hi @Fletchasketch thank you for your kind reply. Can I ask what supplements you are taking? I am taking folic acid, vitamin d, omega3 and COQ10, anything to support healthy egg development - even though I know this wouldn't have changed the outcome last time. I hope you are having a good week, let's hope this cycle is a good one 🤞 I wish I could just go through one day with my mind not wondering to baby thoughts or being pregnant as I know these things more commonly happen when not planned or trying!

Of course. I had been taking just the Boots own brand prenatal, but was told it was no good and so have switched to one called 'Ovum' it's about 10 times the price, but contains a high dose of folate (some believe this is better than folic acid) it also contains Coq10 and a high dose of vitamin D, so I don't need to take these separately. I also then take the Omega3 from Proceive and an aspirin in the evening. I know what you mean about thinking about TTC non-stop- I was off work for a month and now have been back a month which I thought would help, but still find myself gravitating here most days.
