So confused by this, I bought a thermometer but it’s only to one decimal place. Is this good enough to be able to track and when would it heighten/drop for ovulation and by how much??

No you need one specifically for bbt, normal digital ones aren't sensitive enough. That said, I could never get on with it as I'm a light sleeper and wake up all the time which throws the readings off. I just tracked LH peak.

I think it’s a fallacy. I tried it for a few months and so much can throw it off. It is 100% guaranteed to stress you out more and that’s the last thing you need!

I’d just use your ovulation sticks and have a decent number of shags in that window

LH is the luteinising hormone needed to release your egg. It’s what the ovulation strips test for. Once you hit the peak, your egg is released something like 12-24 hours later

I found tracking my BBT brilliant help this month. It’s my first time trying. I bought a cheap two decimal place thermometer off amazon.

I have really effed up sleep patterns. But I normally get a chunk of at least 4 hours with waking up at around 3pm for the afternoon school run. So this is when I’ve taken mine. And I’ve managed to establish a cover line and see a very clear rise confirming when I ovulated this month. Without it, I’d never have known, as none of my LH strips have shown a surge or peak this month because I’m always really hydrated, even during the night.

It’s my second cycle trying with irregular periods, and my first cycle after a chemical, so it was really important I was able to at least have an idea what was going on.

I expected to OV around CD19/20 again, so it was a massive surprise when my app suddenly told me I was 3/4dpo yesterday!

I used a digital thermometer 20 years ago & conceived my daughter, monitored temp for a couple of months to get the hang of the graphs first.

The easiest thing is to buy clearblue ovulation sticks, it shows you a flashing face when it’s time to get to business 🙂 together with my Fitbit period tracking app it worked for me the first time.

It's so tricky isn't it! I'd personally recommend the Tempdrop wearable monitor. It's a band which you wear on your arm when you sleep at night (very comfy) and it monitors your basal body temp. It sends all the data to the app in your phone which makes it really easy to see and understand. Not having to remember to take my temp is a blessing!!

Thank you everyone!!!

That’s Premom. I don’t pay for anything and just use the free parts. It’s also great because it will show your cervical mucus along the bottom of the graph as well, and you can really build up a picture.

Accurately tracking ovulation manually can be tricky. I'd recommend the Tempdrop wearable BBT tracker which is a band which you wear on your arm while you sleep (it's really comfy). It tracks your basal body temp and send the data to the app on your phone which then tells you when you are ovulating and when your fertility window is. It's much easier than having to remember to take your temp and do the test strips. I think it really takes the stress out of the whole process. Best of luck!
