So I'm currently having a chemical pregnancy. I've had at least 4 days of faint positives. They obviously aren't getting darker, but they aren't getting fainter either. It's frustrating as I want to see it start to go blank, so I can move on! How long did it take yours to go blank?
Thank you

Oh love. I say this with my heart full of empathy and pain for you… step away from the tests. Take a day off, go for a walk, breathe.
Youll get a period soon then you can try again.

Thanks. I'm just dying for them to go blank! It's like my MC all over again - I had RPOC so I tested positive for over a month after the loss! Until it finally came away with my 2nd period. I wanted to test today as i'm going swimming and if it was blank I'd be prepared that my period might start!😄 but I'm hopefully safe for today. I will try to put the tests down tomorrow😬 would just like to know roughly how long it took people to go negative. I'm guessing they go blank first and then period starts, rather than period first?

Bumping.

Please can I ask people only respond to my question, who've experienced this. I'm not crying my eyes out going mad all day, I'm just doing a single test in the morning, because that's what i choose to do. I'm busy with my toddler during the day so i'm very much distracted and happy, and in high spirits. I simply would just like to know how long it took people's next cycle to come🙂 Thank you!

Hcg is slow to progress in the first week. I wouldn’t panic just yet.. but no with chemical pregnancies it’s very common to bleed and still have positives while the hcg drops. Just think.. if your HCG level was at 10miu when you got the first faint positive then 48 hours later it would only be at 20miu and still would show negative on a regular 25miu test at that stage. I’d give it a couple of days to see what happens.

Ive had 14 miscarriages and 4 of them were chemicals 🤷🏻‍♀️ I spent all of them just waiting for the test to go blank exactly like you.

Thank you for responding! I feel like I know this is a loss as this is my 3rd pregnancy (first was my son, then MC in Jan). Neither of these pregnancies progressed like this. Both progressed with great lines straight away. I will try to be patient and stop testing daily!

I didn’t say stop testing daily 😂🤣 if I told you how many times A DAY I tested with all of mine then you’d have to lie down 😂

I know how nerve racking it is and how hard it is not to think about it when it’s literally all you can think about.

and to be completely honest with you.. my FMU was rubbish to use. If I was you then I’d test every evening after a few hours of holding it and see if you notice the difference.

flutterbye99 · 11/06/2025 09:59

Just so you have something to compare.. mine stayed extremely light for about a week

With my chemical I had a proper period around 4 weeks later, then the following month was pregnant. It’s so tough, sending you lots of love xx

MummaMummaMumma · 11/06/2025 10:00

Stop testing daily, it won't help.
Everyone is different.
Have you had a blood test?
I got pregnant again immediately (like 2 weeks ish after a miscarriage) no period in between.
I'm so sorry for your loss xx

EMC2022 · 11/06/2025 10:19

For me it was around 2 days faint, 2 days getting fainter. So around 4 days after first positive I got a negative . A day or 2 after that I bled. Mine was early though (~4weeks ) so my levels dropped and I bled quickly. I imagine the further along you are the longer it would all take.

RooneyRu · 11/06/2025 21:44

Once my tests were vvv faint it was only a couple of days before AF arrived. It was like a normal period.

Rancor · 12/06/2025 07:56

Thank you all.. line looks fainter today so I'm hoping I only have a few more days to wait!

Just keep an eye on this, it may be worth getting bloods done. Lines that stay faint and don't change can be a sign of ectopic. This was my experience and was lulled into thinking it was safe as was probably a chemical, told to step away from the tests, wait to bleed and try again, doctors can't/won't do anything. I did bleed - but it wasn't over by a long shot and nearly two months later I had emergency surgery.

Rancor · 13/06/2025 10:42

Thank you @Dinnerout I last tested yesterday morning and it did look fainter. Then I started to bleed. Now I'm guessing I'm back on CD2 as the bleeding has been like a period. Glad to be able to move on!

Just keep testing til you get a negative, if it is still there faintly after a week or so contact your EPU, hopefully this is it ending though as I know what you mean you just want to be able to reset and start again. Best of luck.

Rancor · 13/06/2025 17:53

Thank you @Dinnerout I will definitely test again, probably when my bleeding stops in the next few days

For me i bled about a week after I got the negative result. It did muck up my ovulation dates that month (I ovulated later than normal) but I did fall pregnant again that month and now have my beautiful DD as a result. Lots of people anecdotally seen to fall pregnant quickly after a chemical as your body is essentially primed for it - hopefully that happens for you :)

raysan · 13/06/2025 23:44

Is it a MMC or chemical at 6 - 7 weeks?? Three days after bleeding, my test was negative

I think at that stage when there is a fetus and your body has failed to miscarry and begin bleeding, it’s a MMC. A chemical is earlier on when there is a problem with the implanted blastocyst and it cannot develop any further.

Irishpoppy · 14/06/2025 16:29

Hi
i I had a chemical and did a clear blue digital maybe 2 days after I had my HCG tested. It said ‘not pregnant’.
im so sorry for your loss xx

Rancor · 14/06/2025 20:28

@LucyEleanorModeratz I felt really lucky as this was first time trying after my MC in Jan (we had a long break). But wasn't meant to be. I have heard that it can be quick so hopefully it will be quick again!
