Positive tests a year after ectopic

Hi,

Last year I had a bad ectopic and tube remove, we have been trying since September but had no luck. We decided to stop trying for a few months as we are getting married in the summer and I wanted to focus on weight loss. My plan was to lose weight and try again after the summer. I have lost 18kg 💪🏻

I haven’t been tracking ovulation or sex because I wanted a break.

my tests seem a bit light but I don’t know how many DPO I am. I’m CD 31 but my cycles can be anything from 29- 34 days so I have no idea!!
I had one wipe of light pink on Monday which I assumed was my period coming.
I’m stressed as light tests/ not developing tests/ spotting were the signs of my ectopic last time.

anyone got any advice?

thanks

I really don’t think you can read anything into the lightness of a test.
As you have had a previous ectopic you should be able to get an early scan to confirm location. My successful pregnancy after two ectopics was seen on a scan very early - just over 2 weeks after conception / 4 weeks LMP. Since you don’t know when in your cycle you are I’d suggest you wait maybe a week from when you first got your positive test and then go for a scan (at a decent NHS hospital which will be likely to have experienced doctors and good machines and not anywhere private). Obviously if you have any pain or abnormal bleeding in the meantime go to A&E.
Best of luck, I hope all is well.

Hi, thanks for replying.

I called EPU yesterday and I’m really pleased iv got an appointment this morning.
when I had my ectopic I had to wait 10 days to see someone 😅

they said they will scan and do bloods today.

I feel such a mix of emotions, it could all be fine, but it also could be another ectopic and iv only got 1 tube left now. I feel super stressed!

@Okayornotwhat could you see at 4 weeks on the scan?

At 4 weeks (plus a couple of days) they could see that the embryo was in the right place. That was all- there is not a lot else to see at that point- but it was all I cared about. The scan was with a new (at the time) machine, done by a very experienced consultant at a big hospital, so if anyone was going to be able to see something it was them.
I then had another scan at 8 weeks to confirm heartbeat etc.
Hope all is ok with you.

Hello. Do you have an update? I am trying to conceive again following a tube removal x

@Readytotryagain

atm it’s good news. I’m only 5 weeks pregnant but the scan showed a gestational sack in the uterus so that’s positive.
I have to go back in 2 weeks for another scan to check for a heartbeat etc.

I had my tube removed last May and this is the first sign of pregnancy since then. Iv seen lots of people fall pregnant much quicker, but it’s felt long for us.

Congratulations. I feel like another ectopic is my first worry at the sign of a positive test before all the normal worries kick in. It must be a huge relief just to know everything’s in the right place. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

@Readytotryagain

thanks 🙂 I don’t think it’s sunk in yet. But still early days.

it was my first concern as I had a tiny bit of bleeding and my tests started light (like with my ectopic). But I think that was because it was soo early. I think it might have been implantation bleeding.
I was really worried that I might lose my only tube!
the EPU were really good and saw me the day after my first positive test. They scanned me but couldn’t see anything the first time and did bloods.

I’m glad it’s not ectopic. Hopefully it’s viable 🤞🏻
