AFAIK you are more likely to get a false negative than a false positive.

Wait a couple of days and test again?

In the early stages there are only low levels of the hormones so the levels might be on the borderline for the test - positive or negative might be depend on how concentrated your wee is. That is why the tests usually suggest doing it in the morning as that is the most concentrated. Possibly your wee was more dilute in the afternoon if eg you had a few cups of coffee before.

Why not do another test in a couple of days? If you are PG then the levels will have gone up by then and it should be clearer.

if you read the test after the advised time has elapsed, then ignore the result

also, you are best to use first morning, mid stream urine for the test as there is a higher concentration of HcG in it

try again in a couple of days, first thing in the morning

Yes I agree with everybody else. First thing in the morning is best, but you do usually have a time limit to ready the result by, otherwise it can be a false result. If you are anything like me, you won be able to wait long, so maybe try again tomorrow morning? Make sure its the first wee of the day.
