Hi All, DH and I have been trying to get preg for 6 months we are both late 30s so decided to go and get a private scan, semen analysis and blood test. We do have a DD who is 5.
The scan has come back as no issue and the anatomy looks fine. Also saw a reserve of eggs. The bloods are not back yet nor is the semen analysis. My bmi is higher than before and I’m trying to lose weight but I wanted to ask if anyone’s ever had a similar situation and next steps could be. We are awaiting results from the doctor for all tests but just wanted to ask.

6 months isn’t really that long particularly as you are in your late 30’s. I am 35 and it’s taken 16 months to conceive our second child! I also went to the GP after 12 months trying, as I have already had a successful pregnancy all the NHS could offer me was a blood test to confirm ovulation.

It does get disheartening and upsetting as the months go by with negative followed by negative but realistically, it may take upwards of a year or more. The good news is all the signs from your tests seem very positive x

@paddington8 I am in a similar boat in that I’ve been trying to get pregnant for 6 months now aged 36, we had a chemical pregnancy last August when we weren’t trying so stupidly thought we would be lucky again in a 6 month timeframe but no luck! I’ve had all bloods done and all good, I do have an egg reserve that’s the lowest end of normal for my age, but nothing in terms of issues that would affect fertility. S.A. came back great, so I really can’t understand why it’s taking so long. But as @Yellowdaff25 says, actually when you look at the statistics of people 35 plus it does actually take longer on average and over a year is normal. I have no children and neither does my partner so we are hoping and praying we get pregnant soon 🙏🏻

it’s a hard journey!
