Lack of EWCM

TTC#2 (4th month) and I've noticed now a distinct lack of EWCM which I used to have in much more noticeable quantities when we conceived #1 - in fact I remember doing the deed once I noticed it....I'm temping and doing OPK's and find the temp shift and OPK's tally up but the EWCM might follow rather than tie up?

I have ordered some pre-seed and will see how that goes. If we don't have any luck in the next 3 - 4 months may go to the GP as I suspect that might be a problem?

Mucus (sorry if TMI) is watery and definitely not dry - I've had a poke around and get cloudy mucus (and wet) on my finger but no EWCM .....

I'm 38....so know that we don't get as many EWCM days as we get older (generally) .

What have others done about this issue?? Or has it not been an issue for you and no EWCM but no probs?

Apparently drinking grapefruit juice daily during the first half of your cycle can help increase EWCM. I'm sure there are other tips as well, maybe search on mumsnet.

i second the grapefruit juice! worked for me. (still not preggers though). also take evening primrose oil from cd1 up to ovulation and then take flaxseed oil for the rest of the cycle.

I've heard mixed reports about the Robutissin as well - some say (teri weschler) it dries you up and some say it works.....

Herby you have to be careful which Robitussin you take. Anything that has any kind of decongestant in it will dry you up. You're looking for something where the active ingredient is Guafesin. I'm not suer what's going on with me, but the past few cycles I've been on prenatals, B6, EPO and guafesin and I've been quite dry. This month I was away so didn't do any of that and I've got lots of CM. Not EW yet, but still too early. I don't really know if it's down to going 'au natural' this month or because I'm into my third cycle since mC and my body just needed this time to regulate itself (when I first came off BCP it wasn't until the third month that everything really fell into place with CM - incidentally it was the month I got pregnant). I thought I would try preseed if I needed anything this month.

I came off the pill at the end of Feb. After about 60 days I had lots of EWCM and 13 or so days later first AF came. For the next cycle I expected another long one and so was caught out when AF arrived on CD27 - had hardly noticed any EWCM -maybe a small amount on CD 12/13. It is now third cycle off and am CD 13 - feel quite wet but no EWCM as yet. Am a little confused by it all tbh....Odd that that first cycle off I had loads of it.....perhaps that is why they say you can be super fertile when you come off the pill.

We aren't going to start trying until later this year.
