Me and partner have discussed trying for a baby later this year. We always said we wanted to do this around summer 2025 but then booked an all inclusive holiday for July! We discussed it before booking and agreed we could fit both in this year. Holiday will be end of July and then I will come off the pill in August.
I've read up that the best thing to do is take folic acid and vitamin d supplements up to 3 months before trying. And just try to be a bit healthier in general, cut down alcohol etc. I don't want to come off the pill before the holiday as I don't want to be worrying about periods/withdrawal bleeds starting when out there and ruining swimming activities etc.
We have paid extra to go all inclusive so I want to enjoy food and drink on the holiday.
Do you think this is OK? Enjoy the holiday and drink but stop straight away when we get home. Shall I start taking folic acid in June and continue even when I am on holiday?
I feel like I didn't think about the pre planning of ttc.
I am in my early ish 30s and this will be our first. I know it may take time once off the pill and may not happen for a few months after so I'm not expecting anything but want to make sure I'm not jeopardising at the same time.

Definitely start folate/a prenatal 3 months in advance. It’s so tricky because some people fall pregnant immediately after coming off the pill, some take a long time and you don’t know if you might have issues. Personally we came off hormonal contraception and used condoms for ages so my cycle could normalise but totally get the reason to not want to!

You can start all your pre vitamins and continue with those while on holiday and preparation to coming off the pill and ttc . You can definitely go on your holiday and enjoy yourself and not have any cares in the world lol have fun. Then when you get back and when your ready to come off your pill you can start preparing for pregnancy. There is no hurry.

I did the same & waited til the end of my holiday until I stopped the pill. In hindsight I wish I had come off it earlier, as it took 6 weeks to get a period after stopping. But everyone is different so it’s hard to know.
I was taking folic acid for 3 months before & continued it while on holiday while enjoying a drink

I did the same and came off the pill the day after a holiday ☺️ go ahead and enjoy yourself until then, it could take a little bit of time to have a period after you come off it anyway. I came off in October and didn’t actually ovulate until December. You’re right about taking folic acid now, it’s only a couple of quid for 90 days anyway. Just think, plenty of people get pregnant on holiday or when they’re drunk etc so I shouldn’t think a holiday, when you’re not trying yet anyway, will make any difference!

Just enjoy your holiday. People aren’t trying and get drunk and get pregnant.

It can take a while to regulate after coming off the pill, some people only take a couple of months to regulate but some can take a year. I’d just enjoy your holiday then see what happens when you get back.
