How long did it take you to fall pregnant after coming off the pill?

I have been off the pill 7 months now and actively trying to conceive for 6 cycles but no luck. Interested to know how long it took others to fall pregnant? I know it’s normal to take up to a year but starting to get a bit worried about it.

Probably not what you want to hear but I was on the pill from age 16 to 33 and got pregnant the first month. It was a great shock to the system!

LucyLou0527 · 08/05/2025 13:30

I’ve been off the pill for almost a year now, still nothing🥲 but everyone is different!

Straightomyhead · 08/05/2025 13:33

I was on the pill from age 18 to 32. It took us 11 months to conceived our first. I didn’t then go back on the pill and it was the first month after not using protection for our second.

i don’t know if the pill does affect long term. It’s not suppose to.

I was on the pill for almost 4 years and I’m on cycle 5 of ttc.. one thing I’ve noticed is a shorter luteal phase compared to before, has anyone else found this? Cycles are still regular just shorter

About a week 🙄 Aged 44 and with only one ovary & tube.

A year

Em3009 · 08/05/2025 13:59

I’m also 7 months in and nothing 😓

BrownieBlondie01 · 08/05/2025 14:04

For my first child, I came off the pill in May, conceived in October but it was a chemical pregnancy, then conceived again in December and had my daughter.

3 years on from that conception, I have been off the pill for I don't know how many months, maybe even a year? Not taking any precautions for about 6 months I think, and nothing yet.

Bumblebee1984 · 08/05/2025 14:14

With my first I conceived on 4th cycle trying after stopping the pill, either my second it was 3rd cycle. I came off the pill just over a month ago now and this is first cycle ttc #3. Everyone seems so different. Hopefully it happens soon for you

Peanutbutterjelly123 · 08/05/2025 15:37

10 months to conceive our first after coming off the pill x

GreenDogDot · 08/05/2025 15:39

On the pill for 15 years and conceived the first month. Up to a year has been common in my group of friends, there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

Confused868947 · 08/05/2025 15:46

I got pregnant on the second cycle but unfortunately had a chemical pregnancy. I haven’t had a period since ( 100 days since my miscarriage) not pregnant either so no idea what’s going on 🤷‍♀️

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 08/05/2025 21:50

Took the pill for 13 years and it took 3 months from stopping taking it to conceiving x

Notmyrealname22 · 08/05/2025 22:41

4 months

Floranan · 08/05/2025 22:48

everyone’s different so please don’t read anything into why it happens quickly for some and not others.

for me it was 2 months totally unexpected thought after being on the pill for 4 years it would take longer. My second child took about 4 months I think. But my third I was on the pill when I fell.

Changingplace · 08/05/2025 22:50

I didn’t, two rounds of IVF and I still haven’t.

If you think there might be an issue go and see your GP sooner rather them later, at least they can run some tests and you’ll have an idea of whether you might need some help.

MrsJRHartley · 08/05/2025 22:51

9 months

alloutofcareunits · 08/05/2025 23:15

I was on the pill for best part of 13 years, stopped taking it and got pregnant before I had a period, so the first month.

StJulian2023 · 08/05/2025 23:21

Two weeks

littlemissalwaystired · 09/05/2025 06:16

I waited 7 months after coming off the pill to start TTC, happened on the 3rd month.

p0ppyx · 09/05/2025 10:24

Good to hear lots of different stories, it really is different for everyone. I have a fertility mot booked in next week just to check everything is ok so fingers crossed that comes back fine. Hope everyone who is still waiting for their baby gets a positive soon 🩷 X

I came off the pill in the August, started taking folic acid and stopped drinking alcohol. I knew I wanted to start trying in the October, first time of trying I fell pregnant. Not sure if it was the break from contraception that helped to regulate everything or just luck.
sending loads of luck your way 🍀 x

ImpatientlyTryingToConceive · 20/10/2025 22:48

I came off the pill in June 24. Still nothing. Not even a blip. Don't even want to count the number of months at this point 🫣

ttcin2022 · 21/10/2025 00:08

Took me 8 months

mondaytosunday · 21/10/2025 00:37
