My head is spinning a bit as I've just had a conversation with an ex midwife who has since trained in fertility. She said I should have been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic and had blood tests for various things, because I've had two mc, and that she would be concerned if I fell pregnant again, because of the high risk of another mc. It feels surreal that she would be concerned about the result that I've been working hard to get! But I do completely understand what she means and I agree really, I should investigate what might have caused them, rather than just hoping for the best next time. I feel a mix of glad to have had the conversation, foolish for accepting what EPU told me last time (can't be explained) and a bit cross that nobody bothered to at least do some simple blood tests. It's all made me a bit emotional.

SureLook · 09/05/2025 17:07

@hollyhocks2 that's a confronting conversation to have. But do not feel foolish. You went through something awful and traumatic. You are not the expert in this area, they are. They are probably just "following protocol" which has no human element to it. I completely understand you feeling emotional. You're doing everything you can x

cannynotsay · 09/05/2025 17:27

@hollyhocks2I'm glad someone is thinking of you and care for your future. I hope that they can support you in understanding why. You’re not a foolish you had and other things to focus on at the time xx

hollyhocks2 · 09/05/2025 18:10

Thank you both for replying. I wasn't expecting the conversation and it's really knocked me off kilter. Also it's been a long week. I'm just at a low ebb now and feel like getting into bed! Unfortunately not an option as we've got guests tonight.

SureLook · 09/05/2025 18:38

@hollyhocks2 typical timing! Try and enjoy yourself tonight. And if you need to duck out then do so. Just say you're not feeling well x

LCA07 · 10/05/2025 11:07

Smiley face this morning! Booked into the clinic tomorrow morning. Feel like it’s come round so fast and I’m not emotionally prepared for the two week wait again 😂

SureLook · 10/05/2025 19:10

@LCA07 it's such a rollercoaster isn't it?

cannynotsay · 10/05/2025 21:28

Spreading some baby dust for you all ladies xxxx

KSmith94 · 11/05/2025 21:23

@cannynotsay congratulations on your BFP, that's so exciting 🥰 hope the baby sticks 🤞🏻

I'm back from holiday now so back to using OPKs but it's possible I may have missed ovulation this month with the week away with family, we did however DTD twice, so better than nothing, but hoping ovulation hasn't been missed and will come over the next few days 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Fingers crossed you catch it @KSmith94

@cannynotsay toddlers are hard work. You must be exhausted.

KSmith94 · 11/05/2025 22:45

Thanks ladies 🥰

Oh bless her, how old is she? I have a 4 year old and he is just so full of energy all the time, so affectionate though

Hey everyone, hope it's okay if I join 💖 I came off my pill 3 days ago, and have had intercourse 3 times over the past two days as my libido has been SO high! I also had mild cramping and twinges in my left side like my body is preparing for ovulation. I've read ovulation can occur 48 hours after coming off the pill - I took some OPK's and they were negative but definitely faint lines showing LH is back in my system compared to the stark negative tests I took whilst still on the pill. I know it's probably very very very low but has anybody fallen pregnant like this before? Any advice? X

SureLook · 12/05/2025 11:47

Hi @GracieJames I'm not too sure to be honest. I'd say keep testing with the OPKs. Your cycle might need some time to adjust.

ForGiddyDreamer · 12/05/2025 14:55

@GracieJames I am not sure re the pill. I know they say your cycle resets itself and can do so immediately. Your body might need some time to adjust to its new normal. Different context, but I had the mirena coil for about 5 years. It came out in June and it took 2 cycles before my body had reset itself to my now usual cycle and period. Best thing is to keep tracking until you find out what your normal is. I use the advanced Clearblue digital sticks with the smileys. I find them easier (though not everyone does) and they can also be expensive.

hollyhocks2 · 13/05/2025 10:20

How is everyone? @KSmith94 what are the OPKs saying since you've been back? @LCA07 how was your appt, welcome back to the 2ww mayhem. @SureLook you still managing to hold off testing until AF? How long now? I'm vaguely hoping to do the same. Don't hold me to it... but I'm interested to see if it's less stressful as you found.

I'm 6dpo. So almost halfway there. Still processing what the ex midwife talked to me about. Am in two minds whether I want to do blood tests and investigate what may have caused my two mc. It's hard to find guidance online about what to do after 2, before 3. Maybe I'll call the miscarriage association? Any advice or info from you wise women?

KSmith94 · 13/05/2025 10:25

They went up yesterday but the app doesn't think the line was darker and then back down again this morning, that usually happens to me though before they go back up again so still hopeful 🤞🏻

@hollyhocks2 managing so far. I'm trying not to symptom spot. I'm pretending it's another regular cycle without TTC! I'm 8dpo now. Hoping to hold out until 12dpo but I have a feeling I'm out this month. I've had a short LP since my MMC so let's see! Are you feeling any better? I'd give them a call even just for some information or guidance. It certainly won't hurt!

@KSmith94 if that's normal for you then that's probably a good thing!

ForGiddyDreamer · 13/05/2025 12:06

@SureLook also 8dpo here and also trying not to symptom spot. I've had cramps on and off for a few days and a bit of reflux but they're likely progesterone related given how many DPO. I've not felt any symptoms like I did with the first pregnancy but I don't even know if that's normal for me since that pregnancy was unsuccessful. I'm going to hold off testing until my period is due as I know I'll be upset and would rather put that off.

hollyhocks2 · 13/05/2025 12:06

@KSmith94 I read that doing the OPK at a consistent time of day is best, but found that impossible myself last cycle when I was using them properly for the first time. It's not practical! But could that account for the levels rising and falling?

@SureLook I'm such an eternal optimist that I can't help thinking I'll get a positive test in a week. Probably setting myself up for disappointment, but I can't help but feel like we did everything right this month, with catching my peak LH. So surely it will work?!

Ash2345f · 13/05/2025 12:09

Well my AF was due today & it’s no where in sight along with a BFN last night if my period doesn’t arrive by Saturday I’ll test again. Fingers crossed for you guys 🤞

SureLook · 13/05/2025 12:14

@ForGiddyDreamer I'm the exact same. I'll be able to test at home and not have to go to work as well. I can cry in peace then 😂 when is AF due?

@hollyhocks2 I know, I'm the same. You had positive OPKs and had sex at the right time so why didn't it work? Very disheartening!

Fingers crossed for you still @Ash2345f

ForGiddyDreamer · 13/05/2025 12:19

@SureLook a bit like yourself my cycle hasn't settled down yet. My app is predicting next Monday but that would be a 26 day cycle. My last cycle was 31 days which was more in keeping with what I was before the mc. I would estimate next Thursday, if she shows her ugly head. When are due?

@hollyhocks2 i feel like this too. We dtd over the peak and day of ov so it will be frustrating if nothing sticks.

SureLook · 13/05/2025 12:23

@ForGiddyDreamer so one app is saying the 17th and Premom is saying the 19th which would be two weeks exactly after ovulation. My first two cycles post MMC were 25 and 27 days with later ovulation. So I'm leaning more towards AF coming early so I'm going with the 17th. Fingers crossed for us all!
