2x vaginal for me, sorry!
Tough call for you. What were the reasons for your section? Did you have any complications which are likely to reoccur?

SureLook · 09/06/2025 21:54

@HopefulCove I delivered vaginally after an induction for high blood pressure. I only pushed for 15 minutes and had a superficial 2nd degree tear. I had minimal pain afterwards. Honestly my boobs hurt more than my vag ever did. I would hope to deliver vaginally again.
From my friends experience of both she said vaginally every time in relation to recovery. A colleague currently on maternity leave managed a VBAC and said the recovery was nothing in comparison to a section!

Very jealous! He was in a really bad position and back to back and the labour just stopped progressing at like 5cm… so likely just bad luck but I do have this feeling that like my body just won’t be able to do it and I don’t know why! But the recovery for a C section was literally the worst thing in the world and I really want to avoid if I can, especially having a toddler!!! 😩

SureLook · 09/06/2025 22:07

@HopefulCove I also had back to back labour. Christ, I'll never forget it. You could have a chat with the midwife about VBAC. But I wouldn't worry about it too much right now. It's so out of our hands anyway. And so unpredictable!

@SureLook my best friend just had her 2nd baby after a terrible back to back labour for her first and she had the most wonderful experience this time around 🥰 did you manage to deliver “naturally” even back to back? X

SureLook · 09/06/2025 22:24

@HopefulCove ah that's lovely. A friend was the same - back labour on her first and normal on her second and she said it was like a walk in the park in comparison 😂
I got an epidural cause there's no way I would have managed without it! DD did actually turn at the last minute so she didn't come out back to back in the end. But I did deliver vaginally.

Just wanted to say that even with two 'normal presentation' births (like me) there is an ENORMOUS difference in the pain level between first and second. So a good chunk of your friend's easier second birth was probably just that it was her second birth. I'm not minimising the pain of back to back labour at all, but even if you had another back to back it is likely to be less bad than the first iyswim. I hope you both have an easier time this time round though 🤞

Hi girls! For those of you that have had at least 1x birth, did you have a vaginal or C-Section? I had an emergency c-section with my son and I’m so indecisive about whether to have an elective c-section or try a VBAC… (I know I’m thinking way into the future here) but wondered what your experiences were? X

I too had an emergency C Section with my son - i was induced at 40 weeks as i had GD but i think i had already started having contractions before they put the pessary in - so labour progressed really well, 2cm more every 4 hours - until i got to 8cm and then i just stayed there for 8 hours ! They put me on the hormone drip to try and move things along but nothing ! So after 22 hours in labour they advised a cesarean - he was a big baby at nearly 10 pound.
So to be honest im seriously considering an elective this time !

I delivered vaginally with my first and have been told I'll need to be referred to see if a C-section would be best if I have a second. I'm fairly small and delivered an 8lb5.5oz baby. I was induced 9am on the Monday, contractions started by 1pm and baby was born by 8pm Tuesday after 3+ hours of "pushing". My recovery took a long time. Let me know if you'd like to know more as I don't want to put any details you don't want to hear 🙉(wasn't horrific just a few things happened to me).

Despite it all, I would probably want to deliver vaginally again if I knew I could and all would be okay. With my first, I was so scared of vaginal delivery and that I wouldn't be able to do it but in the moment I just followed the midwives advice and focused on getting baby out safely 🩷

Hopefully you'd be advised on the best option for you.

SureLook · 10/06/2025 09:30

@GrizzlyTheBear thanks for that. That's good to know!

Is it your scan tomorrow @SureLook ? xx

SureLook · 10/06/2025 15:02

@VanessaShanessaJenkins99 yes, it's tomorrow. I'm very very nervous. The closer it's gotten the more anxious I'm feeling. I'm dreading what I might see. But I'm trying to stay positive!

VanessaShanessaJenkins99 · 10/06/2025 15:46

Ah i know exactly what you mean - once you've seen that little bean on the screen you will be able to relax xx

GrizzlyTheBear · 10/06/2025 16:27

Oh wow that's so exciting @SureLook ! How far along are you, will you be expecting to see a heartbeat or is it too early?

SureLook · 10/06/2025 16:29

@GrizzlyTheBear I'm 7+1 today so I'll be 7+2 tomorrow. Expecting/hoping for a heartbeat. My MMC baby passed at seven weeks which is why I'm so nervous!

OP posts:
GrizzlyTheBear · 10/06/2025 16:54

Aw wow @SureLook so you should see a heartbeat then, assuming all is well. I am really hoping it is ❤️

HopefulCove · 10/06/2025 18:54

@SureLook everything will be fine 🩷🩵 but I know how you feel, the closer my scan gets the more nervous and anxious I feel. I wish we could just be looking forward to it like “normal” people!!

HopefulCove · 10/06/2025 18:57

Thanks for sharing @Adca… I am also a very small person and my baby ended up being 8 pounds 11 so I’m kinda glad he came out via C-Section in hindsight 🤣 I think if you’re body has done it once, it can do it again!

it’s positive to hear that even after what sounds like a traumatic labour you still would want to try vaginally over opting for a c-section. X

SureLook · 10/06/2025 19:07

Thanks for all the support gals ❤️

Good luck today @SureLook

VanessaShanessaJenkins99 · 11/06/2025 09:35

Good Luck @SureLook ! What time is your scan?

Clara202 · 11/06/2025 10:00

@GrizzlyTheBear Do you think I might actually be on the right track now to confirm?

At least we avoided Christmas babies!
GrizzlyTheBear · 11/06/2025 11:20

@Clara202 definitely looking promising! You another couple of days to be sure I think, but yes, looking like you ovulated CD21 🙌 🎉

Clara202 · 11/06/2025 12:18

@GrizzlyTheBear thank you, at least I know how things should look now. It’s a shame we didn’t get to dtd on CD20/21 😬

SureLook · 11/06/2025 12:55

Hi girls. Unfortunately it was bad news again this morning. There was just an empty sac with no embryo or yolk sac. They've booked me in again for next week to confirm but I'm gonna ring my EPAU today to see if I can come in to get the ball rolling on the inevitable a bit earlier. I'm feeling more pissed off at the moment then sad. Some slight comfort that at least there wasn't a poor little baby in there this time. It's still so shit though!
