@Clara202 you never know, this could be your month 🤞🏻

@GrizzlyTheBear I know, I'm so lucky to escape it. The tiredness is like nothing else! Oooh interesting. Let's start placing bets 😂😂

Will anyone find out the gender? I am, I'm way too impatient 😂

I think we will find out the gender - just because we have all boy stuff up in the loft, a lot of it is unisex stuff but i think id like to have a few bits and bobs if its a little girl.

SureLook · 03/06/2025 18:24

@Clara202 I found out at my 12 week scan on DD that she was a girl. I was scanned by a consultant who specialised in that area so I was lucky. If all is well with this baby I'll be finding out with the NIPT scan. Your idea for just the two of you is lovely ❤️

@VanessaShanessaJenkins99 the organisation side of it is part of the reason as well. I've only girl stuff so if it's a boy I need to be prepared 😂

@Clara202 the temp dip before O doesn't happen for every woman.
The main thing you are looking for is a sustained rise of at least 0.3°C during the luteal phase. It can take a few days for your temp to reach its luteal 'peak' , but when it does that temperature should be at least 0.3°C above your average follicular temps.
I've added an image of a reasonably straightforward chart of mine. They are not all that easy to read! But this one I would say my follicular temps are around 36.40 at most. Then the luteal phase there are some spikes but the average temp is at least 36.70. So there is a gap of 0.3° at least. This chart clearly shows ovulation has definitely happened. The exact day isn't as easy, but if you just want to be certain you have ovulated then it's the overall pattern you're looking at. Usually you'll not be sure of it until around 6dpo I'd say.

I have moments of feeling completely normal (to the point where I start to worry) but then I have started having moments where I feel absolutely terrible!! So who knows. I’m really in my head about things being ok, I think my last MMC affected me more than I thought.

I think we will find out the gender this time… we didn’t with our first but it might be nice to feel a bit more prepared!? But I’m not 100% 🙈

I can’t believe my first scan is in just under 2 weeks!! so so nervous.

also, has one one noticed an increase in CM? (Sorry if TMI) I had so much this evening I panicked and thought it was blood!

GrizzlyTheBear · 03/06/2025 21:53

@HopefulCove that sounds okay, I think. I've heard it can be normal for symptoms to come and go, so long as they don't stop completely (at this early stage anyway)?
I know what you mean about the MMC. My baby died at over 10 weeks, so I feel if I had gone for an early scan last time I would likely have had good news and been all confident it was fine, only to be much more shocked at the dating scan IYSWIM. I think I'd rather go to the dating scan trying to not be too confident so it's not too much of a shock if everything isn't okay. But I don't know, because then I keep thinking maybe I should get a scan, and find out a bit earlier than last time if it's not okay which would be better. Argh. It really messes with your head.

Did you enjoy the surprise with your first? I don't know anyone who didn't find out the sex so I'm curious! Did it make the moment more special do you think?

SureLook · 03/06/2025 23:20

@HopefulCove I'm the same as you. Some days are fine, others I'm overwhelmed with the thoughts of having another MMC. Pregnancy after loss is a minefield!
I've got my scan next Wednesday! I just know I'll be bricking it on the day 😫
You've plenty of time to make a decision on finding out the gender.
And yes, I've had almost like EWCM on and off since my BFP.

I feel like I’ve jinxed it! I’m starting to feel quite nauseous now!! I usual suffer really badly with morning sickness (even in my non viable pregnancies) - I thought maybe I’d avoided it this time around 😞

@GrizzlyTheBear I so know what you mean. With my last MMC I heard the heartbeat at 6 weeks, which I think made it way worse to hear that the baby had stopped growing at 8.5 weeks in my 9 week scan. So actually in ways… is it better just to wait until 12 weeks. But then I’d also rather know sooner rather than later if somethings wrong, so it’s a tricky one. I think a MMC is BY FAR the cruelest type of miscarriage. Haha it’s funny you say that, I actually found it really underwhelming when he came out and they told me he was a boy 🤣 I’d gone through such a terrible induction and labour which ended in emergency C-Section I almost didn’t care at that point !! Was just happy to be alive 🤣

Omg so soon @SureLook!!! I find it so exciting for others but so daunting for me haha. You have to keep us posted 🩷🩷

GrizzlyTheBear · 04/06/2025 12:57

@HopefulCove sorry to hear you're sick 🫤 Last time I felt really sick in a pregnancy I remember thinking phew at least that's a good sign it's healthy, but by ten weeks I did not care anymore, I just wanted to stop feeling sick! It's really grim.
To scan or not to scan... So tricky! If the early scan showed me it wasn't viable I'd be glad I went, but if it all looked good I'd regret going, because I'd still have a month to go before the dating scan in which something could go wrong anyway 😬 Fortunately a scan would be a lot of money and time here, so that's putting me off anyway! I can't remember if you are one of the ones who have booked a scan already?

Clara202 · 04/06/2025 13:14

Thanks @GrizzlyTheBear for that chart. I understand now, and mine looks absolutely nothing like that so that may be the problem 😅

GrizzlyTheBear · 04/06/2025 13:18

@Clara202 well mine all look different too. Also if you are not using Fertility Friend it's likely that the distinction between the two phases won't be as obvious. That's why I like Fertility Friend! But if you can't see any distinct overall difference between your follicular and luteal temps, of around 0.3°C on average, then I would say to the clinic that you think you are not ovulating. You don't want to go ahead with the hycosy or other invasive things when just a course of meds might do the trick.

SureLook · 04/06/2025 13:38

@HopefulCove I woke up nauseous this morning too! Raging 😂 but it went quick enough. Probably just early morning stuff.
I agree completely that MMC is the most cruel type of miscarriage. It's awful that your body keeps showing its pregnant when the baby is gone.
I will definitely keep you all posted about the scan.

HopefulCove · 04/06/2025 13:43

@GrizzlyTheBear I guess it’s a good thing (because it’s free) but due to my history of Partial Molar pregnancy, I have to have a scan at the EPU between 6-7 weeks to rule out that possibility 🙃 I think if all is well on my scan on the 16th, then I will ask for a re scan in 2 weeks (9/10 weeks) as you can’t always rule out molar pregnancy that early.

GrizzlyTheBear · 04/06/2025 14:08

@HopefulCove of course! 🙈 I remember someone saying that now, but had forgotten it was you! Is that only about a week away then?

HopefulCove · 04/06/2025 14:30

Just under 2 weeks! Im actually kind of dreading it… I quite like living in this period of blissfully unaware 😅 @SureLook do you feel like that!? @VanessaShanessaJenkins99 have you booked an early scan?

Clara202 · 04/06/2025 14:44

@GrizzlyTheBear my chart is fertility friend but I don’t think I’ve been doing it long enough or consistently enough to have proper reliable information from it. I see follicular temps, then a dip, then back to the same temps in luteal. I will mention it at my next appointment though.

GrizzlyTheBear · 04/06/2025 14:53

@Clara202 if your luteal temps are the same as your follicular temps (and you are taking the temps properly on a functioning thermometer of course), you are definitely not ovulating I'm afraid. I'm sorry. If that's the case at least they can tackle the right problem. My best friend didn't ovulate for ages and then just started ovulating again (PCOS). And another friend had a medication to help ovulation happen and she got pregnant on that.

Clara202 · 04/06/2025 15:31

I actually did ask at my public appointment if I was definitely ovulating based on discussions we’d had here and the professor there said yes if you’re getting positive opks every month that’s enough, I was sceptical but I didn’t ask any further as I just needed to get the referral. I will be enquiring more when my ivf appointment comes.

Yes on the 28th ! I should be 9 weeks and 2 days so fingers crossed!
I had a MMC before I conceived my son and that baby stopped developing at 7 weeks and a few days. I googled the statistics on MMC and its something like 1-3% as opposed to 25% of regular miscarriages! I do agree that a MMC feels like the cruelest :(
I feel so sick today and i am so consipated!

GrizzlyTheBear · 04/06/2025 16:08

@Clara202 I'm sure they'll do 7dpo bloods for you at the least, which should show whether you've ovulated or not. It's cheap and easy to do blood tests after all.

@VanessaShanessaJenkins99 sorry you're feeling sick 🤢 Hopefully a good sign though.

HopefulCove · 04/06/2025 16:09

@Clara202 I am no doctor, but I’m pretty sure just getting a positive OPK is not a reliable sign to show if you’re ovulating or not! Your LH can still rise without an egg actually being released. Hence why the combination of a peak LH strip and your temp rise for a consecutive 3 days is seen as most reliable! So I would push back on that if I was you x

SureLook · 04/06/2025 16:31

@HopefulCove mine is next Wednesday. I always knew I'd book an early scan cause I just need it. I'm also more anxious cause I had some spotting. I really want a scan but also dreading what I might see 🙃

@Clara202 I would definitely look into that further. It could just be a case of medication to help

@VanessaShanessaJenkins99 sorry to hear you had an MMC too. I never looked up the statistics before. That gives me hope that it won't happen again. Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell x

OP posts:
Clara202 · 04/06/2025 18:54

@HopefulCove it does rise for 3 consecutive days after the ‘ovulation’ dip, I just wasn’t paying attention to what the temp was in the follicular phase

VanessaShanessaJenkins99 · 04/06/2025 21:20

I know i said i wasnt going to test anymore and just go with the flow but i caved and bought another twin pack clear blue digital! It has changed to 2-3 !!!! Im going to save the other one until next week and fingers crossed itll have gone up again! Xx

SureLook · 04/06/2025 21:32

@VanessaShanessaJenkins99 ah, delighted for you! I'm tempted to do the same myself 🙈
