Scan saying 2 weeks behind

So from my LMP I’m measuring 7+5 weeks pregnant. We went for a scan yesterday to be told I’m under 6 weeks pregnant (nothing was seen on scan) which is quite worrying for me as I’m thinking possible Blighted ovum. I done a clearblue yesterday evening and it said 3+ and done one today and it says 2-3 has anyone had this before? I’ve nearly missed my second period (27 days since I was due on my last one) so is it even possible for me to be 4-5 weeks?

Do you have any idea when you ovulated? And when did you get your first positive test? X

SiberFox · 25/04/2025 13:15

2 weeks behind didn’t turn out well for me I’m afraid despite seeing a heartbeat, it was just too big of a gap and not developing right, sorry xx

I don’t track my ovulation but my period app says I ovulate around the 18th x

I asked a very similar question previously and had a very mixed reply. For me I was adamant on ovulation and when we had sex and the baby was measuring a week and 2 behind. Many say it’s too early sometimes and you may have miscalculated. Did you check your temp after ? Unfortunately it ended in a MMC for me and baby had trisomy 18. Apparently it’s common for baby to measure behind with chromosomal issues. That being said baby is so small that the measurements can be off and baby is actually perfectly fine. I have my fingers crossed all is well xxx

It is possible that you're having a MMC sweetheart, I'm sorry to say that and I will be keeping everything crossed for you.
I have had 2 MMC's sadly, however there is always hope because you do hear of people ovulating slightly later than they thought. Also implantation can take up to a week to occur. I have taken ovulation tests in my fertile window which have been negative, then it turns out both times I was pregnant I actually must have conceived when I was technically passed my ovulation days, and implantation added another week on to that before HCG would begin to rise. Some people ovulate later than they technically should, if that has been the case that would explain why you are measuring behind.
Did you do your two tests at the same time of day? If you do one later in the day, that could explain why it was showing 2-3 weeks instead of 3 plus weeks. However, a MMC can also cause HCG levels to begin to drop. Did they do any blood testing for you?

I am sending lots of love, I personally know how it feels to have that uncertainty behind your pregnancy and its horrible. You will get through this no matter what the outcome is. Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. xxxx

Ive had it both ways xx

My first was measuring v behind - he is now a happy 6 year old
However last year I was measuring behind when I was sure of dates. I have weekly scans and the growth slowed before it did stop - a miscarriage.

ktl1a · 25/04/2025 22:25

I had the same last month, sadly it ended in a miscarriage (so devastating) but I did a lot of Google searching and some people with a similar situation were OK so fingers crossed you are one of the lucky ones. Take care of yourself xx

curliegirlie · 26/04/2025 15:34

Getting a lower reading on the CB isn't a great sign - 2-3 triggers with HCG at 153 miu, whereas 3+ needs 2,750 miu. I'm sorry.....

Oh OP I'm so sorry to read your update.
The same thing happened to me and it's just so traumatic and sad and devastating.

curliegirlie · 16/05/2025 21:37

I'm so sorry to read that, it sounds so horrific 🥺 Did you have any further appointments or scans after that first one? I'm surprised they let it go on for so much longer without intervention.

Hi that was a private scan I went to and I actually started bleeding at my booking appointment on Monday which was just so weird to me that it started in the hospital toilets but luckily the midwife was lovely and booked me in for a scan on Wednesday, had my scan there was nothing in the sac so something called a blighted ovum. Got sent home then my bleeding got really really heavy TMI but it was literally pouring down my legs I still can’t get over the amount of blood I lost 🫣 so went to a&e my pants were covered in blood so I was seen pretty quickly got changed and was waiting in the waiting room again for a doctor but something just come over me to go to the bathroom and as I pulled my pants down I felt something there ready to come out I tried to catch it with tissue and it ended up on the floor, this is where I panicked it was that big I thought my uterus had fell out because days before this happened I googled and googled “10 week miscarriage” to prepare myself and all I seen was tiny little sacs but it’s not it’s huge the size of my hand I’m still in shock now and traumatised I stayed in hospital overnight and came home yesterday morning to wait to pass the remainder of the tissue left inside me😢 💔 I have a scan next week to see if it’s all cleared. This is my first miscarriage luckily I have 2 children already but my heart goes to anyone who has experienced this before 🫶🏼

That's almost exactly what happened to me @Boymum2256

I was in the loos in the hospital, after bleeding for days, and this massive clot came out into my hands. It was horrifying.

I also had a blighted ovum. I was 14 weeks by then. It was a very long time ago, before women had routine scans so early on.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you.
