Hi, looking some advice. I usually have a 28-32 day cycle, never ever has went above 32. I have not been on any contraception for years but suffer from heavy periods so I was prescribed the contraceptive pill as I am going on hol next month and wanted to delay my period. The dr advised me to start the pill on day 1 of my period and run two packs back to back to delay period. I started the pill on what i thought was day 1 when i started spotting. My query is, i have not bleed any more and just had light spotting now for 5 days. Would taking the pill for a few days stop my period? Negative test just to see but just confused. Any advice appreciated

No the contraceptive pill shouldn't stop your period if it had already started. It only prevents ovulation so you start day 1 you would normally then have this period and then you wouldn't ovulate the following 2 weeks later so you wouldn't have a true period 4 weeks later. You can run two packs back to back as the gap in the pill leads to a break through period, so if there's no gap in pill and a redirection in hormones you don't bleed.
