Does mini pill stop sex drive?

Hello! Since having my little boy one and a half years ago! I went onto the mini pill after having him, and I blamed it on having a baby but my sex drive has completely gone! I still fancy my partner etc, so it isn’t that. But I’m now thinking is it my mini pill that I am taking?

Has anyone else had this? I want it to come back as I know it isn’t normal.
But not sure what to do!

Yes it definitely can do. It got rid of mine.

@Sarah2891yes I done some googling but came on here to see if happened to anyone else! I think it must be that! I’m going to stop taking it and be careful! Xx

@Sarah2891 I just read it got rid of yours too. Hard to know what to do! As my partner is wondering why I don’t want to but I want it to come back but it must be that! X

My DP is on medication that lowes his drive too so it hasn't been too much of an issue, luckily. I would say as a form of contraception it's outstanding in that respect!

@lavenderlouAhh ok! I’m having opposite problem, my partner is always like you show no interest now! To be honest we do want one more baby, so maybe I should come off it, as I’m 35 and I want to have it sooner rather than later. Then maybe think about some other form of contraception or even being sterilised as would be my 3rd and final! Xx

I have come off it now, we’re going to try for another baby (fingers crossed though, I’m 40!). I noticed almost straight away that my sex drive was a lot higher, especially around ovulation

Yes - that's one reason why it's an effective contraceptive. Can't get pregnant if you're not having sex.

It seemed to do the same for me the first time I tried it. What's the point of a contraceptive if you end up having no sex anyway?

The second time several years later, less so but it played havoc with my period.

@amigafan2003 really! I was on the pill which has break before and it never done this! Only the mini pill.
@ManchesterGirl2oh we did have sex a lot more when I wasn’t on pill, or when I was on the pill with the break? But they advised me as I am over 30 to take the mini pill and it’s killed my sex drive completely lol. Xx

I'm late 40s so definitely not considering any more kids. For me, the benefits of the mini pill have been far more to do with how it has helped my perimenopausal symptoms. No more heavy periods, no more migraines and headaches. I used the combined pill pre-DC and found that better just for contraception.

@lavenderlou yes I was fine on the combined pill! No problems - but since being on this, I could live my life without sex forever lol! xxx

Yes, I believe it did for me. Now I'm TTC I can notice the difference.
