TTC and bleeding a week before period due

Hi everyone - Hope you are having a lovely day. I am currently TTC baby #2 and am using Clear Blue digital ovulation tests to help with this. The test suggested that I ovulated on March 30. All was going well, but I started to bleed 8 days post ovulation (the bleeding started a week before my next period was due). This has now been going on for the past 3 days. What concerns me is that the bleeding is definitely more than spotting (I need to use a thin pad) but it is also definitely much less than my normal period (which is quite heavy). Additionally, I've had no cramping associated with the bleeding, which is unusual for me. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't tell if this is an early, unusually light period or perhaps something that is more worrying. I appreciate that no one else will have the answer to that, but if anyone has had a similar experience it would be great to hear from you.

Hi there,

Apologies I don’t have an answer for you, but I wonder if it is implantation bleeding perhaps? I had a situation where I thought perhaps I was pregnant due to a scan showing what appeared to be early pregnancy but I had had my period. My periods are always really light so can be 1-2 days and my consultant did say that could have been implantation bleeding - so if it’s like a period but lighter it could be. People on here and on google always describe implantation bleeding as being pink spotting but my consultant did say that my period could have been implantation. In my case it turned out to not be a pregnancy, but her advice at the time led me to believe that all these descriptions of implantation bleeding aren’t accurate! Everyone is so different and ‘early pregnancy is a mystery’ as my fertility consultant said!

let us know how you go ❤️

@Iggilypiggily Thank you for your post❤ Implantation bleeding did cross my mind, but I thought the amount of bleeding would have been too heavy for it to be that. I had that very light pink spotting you mentioned right before I found out I was pregnant with my first child (I think I had cramps too). It is hard to say given how every pregnancy is different, but what is really puzzling me is the bleeding with no cramps at all. I'll see how things get on and will update the thread when I find out more.

@Iggilypiggily how are you getting on?

I have been TTC for 2 years nearly and spotting is one of my common frustrations. They tested my progesterone at day 21 as that can sometimes be a reason for spotting, but that came back normal, so I still have no answers. Sometimes I get it just a few days after ovulating and all the way up to my period a whole week later, sometimes it's just a few days before my period. But it's either pink or a light red, and never cramps. I am due to start IVF next month so hoping this is my answer to fall pregnant.

I am starting IVF on Saturday! Just had my pre treatment apointment this morning. Now waiting on my medications getting delivered.

I will let you know how I get on with it. Is it your first time? Very happy to try to answer any questions for you when you get there. I found this podcast IVF bffs on Apple Podcasts that I listened to a few episodes of (they are going through it while podcasting) and I found that so helpful, as most of what the nurse when over today in the apointment I already knew from the podcast
