Darkest line I can get

Dodger987 · 07/04/2025 07:38

Hi! Just looking for some advice. Trying to conceive at 40. I already have a couple of DS who I conceived 1st time but I was a lot younger!
Currently starting off by tracking my O. This is the darkest line I've been able to get this month. Should I just go with this meaning that this was in fact my LH surge or is it really not dark enough to go with that 🙈

Keep testing twice per day, your peak could come in the next couple of days, mine is sometimes that late too x

Dodger987 · 07/04/2025 08:37

Thank you 😊 out of interest do all women always get to the darkest or darker than control line point or are some women's surges just naturally lighter?

I never once got a positive LH surge despite testing twice a day, but I have 2 kids 🤷‍♀️

ChaE05 · 07/04/2025 11:00

The second line needs to be as dark or darker than the control line. Keep testing. I also swear by clear blue advanced ovulation sticks. They are spenny but I use them alongside the cheapies. Once I've got a solid smiley on the clearblue (meaning ovulation in 12-48 hours) then I use the cheap ones to confirm that I have ovulated (the line will then be lighter again) alongside listening to my body (mucus and ovulation pains) this has always worked for me. But keep testing with those cheap ones. I would test twice a day!

I had a sharp right side pelvic pain Thursday evening followed by ewm. I then got the line on the strip that I posted. I thought surely that's got to be the big O?! 🙈

When did you test previous to this one that you have posted? Is it possible you could have missed your peak x

Id been testing since the previous morning. So Wednesday morning.
I did do some 'google research' and some sites say not all women reach as dark as the control line but they still are ovulating. Just so many different answers 🙈
I did winder if maybe I'd peaked whilst sleeping? x

Anything is possible! I guess as it's your first time testing it might take a little while to know what is normal for you. I typically don't ovulate until cd18-21 so I start testing about cd10. And just do the deed every other day to cover myself! Sick of it by the time I actually ovulate 🤣

5 months with 2 miscarriages amongst that 😔 I'm currently 9dpo but tested today and negative. So not feeling hopeful x

Fertility specialist told us to try before ovulation. Up to 5 days before so day 10 13 16 and 19 for a 28 days cycle.

TigerLily04 · 07/04/2025 21:03

Mine never usually get darker than the line. This is mine from today and I doubt it will get any darker. This is actually the first month ever I’ve tested more than .7 so tonight’s test is very dark for me! I used the clear blue smiley face ovulations kits as well because I think they are more accurate

@TigerLily04
Hey, love looking at these charts. Did you get a darker line after this? How do you find the clear blues alongside the easy@homes? I’m planning on using clear blue too this cycle x

TigerLily04 · 09/04/2025 09:03

Hi @mummm2 no it reduced so it changed my peak to the CD17 evening test. To be fair the CB ones help you know when to test on the Premom ones. I think I have a very small ovulation window to test which is normal for some people so once I start getting a flashing smiley face I test twice a day on the Premom tests and then when I get a static smiley on CB I try and do 3 Premom tests a day, morning afternoon and before bed to get a peak. As I say these are the highest results I’ve ever had but I do think that’s down to the vitamins and acupuncture. I like CB and found it to be pretty spot on with predicted ovulation.

@TigerLily04 oh that’s good to know I usually test FMU and then evening, but I don’t think it needs to be FMU on the strips?

Ooh acupuncture I tried that once and it was not for me! I felt beat up for days after lol.

I’m really curious this month so started OPKs last day of period just to see how it ranges over my whole cycle! Probably pointless but maybe I just like to POAS 🤣

mummm2 · 09/04/2025 10:03

my first 2 days 😅 i don’t actually know why it’s even that high tbh.. but then may be normal for that close to finishing AF I don’t know because I never test that early usually x

I’ve never had dark tests…. Currently 24 weeks!

Dodger987 · 09/04/2025 14:20

Think I'm out this month. Got the pre period thigh pains and aches that I always get ☹️

Dodger987 · 10/04/2025 19:19

So just to add to all this 🙈 I 'think' I'm dpo 7. I took a LH test out of interest and it's come up dark. I'm due on my period in 4 days. So....

Is it possible I've ovulated ridiculously late?
Can these test pick up AF hormones?
Can it pick up early pregnancy hormones???? 🙈

Anyone had similar and what was your outcome? ❤️

After my miscarriage the LH tests were reading at 0.7-0.8 at peak and I still managed to conceive faster than the first time.
Lh tests can get darker before period and they can also get darker when pregnant

I'm just going to need to be a bit more patient and wait to do an actual test aren't I?! 🙈🤣

I think I'm out this month because I've had the cramps from hell and I cannot stop eating which is how I normally get before I come on 🐷 🙄

Sorry to hear you've been through a miscarriage. I've been there too. It's very tough 💔 x

7DPO is still very early….. but yes LH tests do pick up HCG.

the darkest LH test I’ve ever gotten was when I was already pregnant!

Summersun91 · 11/04/2025 09:44

I took the tests twice a day and never got a line as dark as the control line, but definitely ovulated as I’ve conceived a couple of times. I just used to track it getting darker and then lighter and took that to be ovulation (most of the time I had other ovulation signs as well, so I figured I must just have a very short peak which I wasn’t quite catching).

for ovulation testing I do once a day (midday) till I see it getting darker then 3 times a day one I see it rise, and I’ve caught the surge on the boots strips. Before I did this I never saw the full surge. I’ve read you’re more likely to surge later in the day, and as far as I’ve tested, that’s true.

this cycle my lh surged, fell a little but didn’t drop back down. As I knew they were affected my pregnancy hormone from ttc after my mmc, I thought why not try one of my cheap pregnancy tests (at 6dpo) and it was positive.
