Tiny spotting around ovulation normal?

We started TTC last month, trying to not overly plan things at the moment but I did start monitoring CM.

Last months cycle ended up being 40 days (!) which I am putting down to stress or just one of them things. CD25 I noticed a very small amount of brown discharge in my underwear. Then absolutely nothing else apart from normal CM.

I am CD21 today and just had the exact same thing. Again very minimal. I did do LH tests this month and got a positive on CD17

I’ve googled and this seems to be a possible sign of ovulation - if this is the case does it happen before or after I have ovulated, what I’ve read online isnt super clear!

Never had any mid cycle spotting (that I have noticed!) so just want to check its nothing I should be concerned about - any advice would be great ❤️

Yep it's normal I get it on and off, for a while I got it every time, it has a German name mitte something I think. I always get twinges on the side I'm ovulating on as well.

Ah thanks so much for replying!
Is it the day you ovulate or does it vary?

as you ovulate ime! makes it very easy to get pregnant!

Cotswoldmama · 01/04/2025 18:35

I think it's the day I ovulate, although I never used ovulation tests or anything.

Makes sense thank you!
I had what I thought was a positive LH 5 days ago I would have assumed I had ovulated sooner but maybe not!

It’s after or as you ovulate. The blood is from the rupture.

hello! Eerily similar experience to me.
last cycle was 46 days! I ovulated finally around day 28 on that cycle.

I am not day 23 and think I ovulated day 18-20.

last cycle I got spotting on day 14 and day 18, I had ewcm pretty much all month! This month I got spotting on day 10 and 20, ovulation cramps on day 18 but my OPK was positive on day 15 🤣 I have irregular periods normally though but still messes with my head!

im used to intermenstrual bleeding, but before using OPKS, never thought it would have been linked to attempted ovulation. This month I think I have definitely ovulated though as my CM changed the day after the spotting! So I think I ovulated on the day I spotted.

I have heard it can be due to the increase or decrease of estrogen when ovulation occurs.

Very similar!!
our bodies know how to mess with our minds don’t they 🤣 interesting you had a bit of a delay following positive OPK as well
im expecting to be delayed again this month as it seems I only ovulated CD20/21 but we shall see! X
