I'm in complete shock

I just need to reach out as my mind is in a state of disbelief right now. My period was 7 days late. I've just taken a pregnancy test (well 3 actually) and they are positive. Clear blue digital says 2-3 weeks. I only took a test as I have a smear booked for Friday. I fully expected it to be negative.

Why I'm in such shock is that I don't ovulate. All of my day 21 blood tests have come back low (belown15nmol). We had a medicated IUI to conceive my son back in 2020. We've had our first IVF appointment to try for a second and are due to start IVF in April.

I can't stop shaking and I don't know what to think. I'm all on my own in the house. I've had no symptoms and I did with my first pregnancy. How can I believe this? I just don't understand how this is happening!!

This makes me so happy! You do the shock and I’ll do the celebrating for you.
I’ve heard so many stories of couples who fall when just about to start IVF. Literally when you least expect it. But this is such good news. I have friends in a similar situation as you and I wish for a story like this for them every single day.
Don’t worry about the lack of symptoms. I’m pregnant with my second and barely any symptoms at all but I felt awful from start to finish with my DD. Symptoms (especially when you weren’t symptom spotting!) don’t mean that much.
Congratulations. I’m wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy! xx

@Groundhogday2025 Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot to me. I am just walking around the house from room to room in a daze. Goodness knows what my husband will say when he is home later. That is a relief to hear about the symptoms. I just 'knew' with my son but this time it has completely floored me. I hope your friends get some good news too. It is so hard isn't it. Hope you have a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy too.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes xxx

Awww, lovely

Many congratulations .

Just reminded Me of the time I done a pregnancy test one NYE as planned on a good drink up. Negative, but I was so ill whilst at the party, drinking.
2nd week in January a positive result .

I think I was probably pregnant NYE but far to early to pick up (this was 2000)

ARodeoQueen · 27/03/2025 20:32

@MaloryJones I bet that was a shock when you discovered you were. I was drinking last weekend too.

I'm still in a state of shock. Strangely can't get excited. Am just flabbergasted. My husband couldn't believe it. We keep saying 'how?' to each other! Hopefully it will start to sink in soon.

It happened to my mums friend
She had IVF and had triplets, then wasn’t using contraception because she couldn’t get pregnant
12 weeks after the triplets she was pregnant
They’re all grown up and at university now!
