How many follicles are too many with Clomid?

I just had my first cycle of Clomid, day 2-6 of cycle, 50 mg. I had my follicle tracking scan today (Day 10) and they said I have 4 follicles, 3 a good size, 1 quite small. They said I shouldn't try to conceive this month as that is too many, they prefer 3 maximum, and that with 4 the chances of triplets or twins is too high. Can others please let me know how many follicles they had on Clomid, and whether they went ahead with 4 or more follicles, and what their experience was? I don't want to have triplets, not even really twins, but I do want to get pregnant and surely with 4 follicles it increases my chance of 1 working, and I think it's still a very small chance (my doctor called it a 'remote' chance) of multiple births. Any advice or shared experience would be much appreciated!

That was a great responce. I know the dr are advising you to not try this month. As you are informed I think you should make you own choise. Me personly would love twins but any more could place you and your unborn babys at risk. I think I would leave it this month and see how meny you make next month. x
Good look and keep us informed.

I know what I'd do, but I don't want to sway you one way or another. But if I was in your shoes I'd be weighing up the pros and cons of potentially conceiving this month, asking myself whether I'd regret abstaining. The medical profession will, of course, be thinking about the increased risks involved to both mother and babies with multiple births, but that doesn't mean to say that multiple births can't go ahead safely.

I guess at the end of the day you've got to go with your gut instinct.

Sorry I can't offer any more help.

Hugs

If you don't proceed this month, what are they suggesting to 'avoid' too many follicles in future? Also, what about cost of clomid for this (possibly unused) and next cycle? Is it down to you?

Thanks for your messages everyone. I think I am going to go ahead and try this month - keep your fingers crossed for me! I wouldn't actually mind twins, it's just triplets I don't really want!
