Fertility friendly lube advice please!

Hi everyone,

My partner and I only started our TTC journey this cycle just gone and got our first BFN and my period arrived yesterday.

I can’t say I’m overly shocked as we’ve only just started, so I suspect there were things we got wrong with timings etc.

We currently use Durex Naturals Extra Sensitive lube and it hadn’t occurred to me that it might be an issue moving forward until reading an article about fertility friendly lubes, so I just wanted to know if anyone had used that and got pregnant, or if it’s a no go lube to use when TTC?

Sorry, I’m a bit naive with all this! I don’t want to necessarily go straight to using fertility enhancing lubes just yet, as they’re expensive, one failed attempt isn’t enough to start causing worry and we’re in that phase at the moment of ‘if it happens it happens’, but I just wanted to check if there are other brands I could/should be using for when we start trying again after this period is done?

Thanks! X

We’ve started using pressed - also bought proceive plus but read an article that said pressed did slightly less damage so was better ☺️

Ok great thanks! Did you use anything different before that? Just trying to work out if I should ditch the Durex or not! ☺️

Yeah we were using Yes! lube which I think isn’t one of the worst but not great. There’s some studies online that look at which are better/worse. I would 100% recommend swapping to a fertility friendly one. You don’t need to use all cycle, just in fertile window (as it’s a lot more expensive!)

Ok fab, thanks for the advice! Do you have to buy them online, or are there any high street shops/supermarkets you can buy them from?

I bought on Amazon but I think probably boots/superdrug etc ☺️

We used conceive plus can pick it up from boots, worked perfectly for us! You want to avoid glycerin which I think durex might contain.

SpiraliserSardinePasta · 11/03/2025 19:21

It took me 13 months to conceive DS and in the last month we used Conceive Plus lube so whilst not conclusive evidence it didn't hurt 🤷‍♀️

BritishDesiGirl · 11/03/2025 19:22

I used Pre - seed

IntoTheVoid68 · 11/03/2025 19:23

I think Pre-seed worked for me.

Conceive plus worked for us

PlumpHobbit · 11/03/2025 20:58

We used pre seed, you can get it on amazon

It's more pricey than the ky/durex etc but did feel less thick/gloopy but still enabled the lubrication they did

Good luck!
