on a 49 day cycle when would you ovulate?

hello

i have not had a period for a few years now as have been breast feeding and then fell pregnant again. My last periods were about 49 days apart. when would you ovulate then? thank you

it all depends how long your regular luteal phase is (the time between ovulation and period this is usually the same each cycle). if you assume your LP is 14 days then you would ovulate on or around CD35 but it can vary between 10-16 days depending on the individual. the GP would predict Ov to be 14 days before period unless other info is available to adjust it hope that helps

A "normal" cycle is between 21 and 35 days or with 4 days or less of variation from month to month.

A 49 day cycle is more likely than not to be one in which ovulation did not occur.

You do not say how old you are but if you're over 35 and have been ttc for six months without success you should be referred. Likewise if periods remain at this sort of length.

Luteal phase defect problems are controversial - there is much debate about this as to whether it is actually a problem or not. It is not correct to assume that ovulation occurs two weeks before the start of the next period. Ovulation is not an exact science and it can occur earlier, later or not at all in ANY given cycle.
