So I got my bfp on Monday. A decent line and it progressed until Wednesday then it started getting fainter. I assumed I was having a chemical as that happened last time I had one and I started bleeding heavier than a period. I thought I'd started bleeding last night but it was just a bit of brown and one small clot. Now absolutely nothing!!! I have no idea what to think?? I'm a bit worried about an ectopic with the fading lines 😔 anyone else been through similar? Thanks

have you taken another test?
how many weeks are you?
most ectopic cases you’d have pain but you could contact GP for assessment or local EPU? thinking of you x

flutterbye99 · 03/03/2025 07:09

@Pennyroses ectopic generally gives fluctuating lines so one minute it'll be dark then light then dark etc. Even if you do get what you think is a full period then please make sure you test to make sure it's negative because I also thought I was having a chemical and 4 weeks after my period I texted as I was TTC but turns out the ectopic was still in my tube and I was a matter of hours away from it rupturing x

Pennyroses · 03/03/2025 09:18

@Lavenderrose92 I did do another test yesterday a digital and it said 1-2 weeks so I knew that was bad as I should be 5 weeks 4 days. I started bleeding heavily last night and symptoms have faded now so I know it's a chemical 😞 at least it isn't ectopic I guess. Thanks for your reply x

@flutterbye99 oh my goodness I'm so sorry that happened to you 😔 did you still have symptoms? I started bleeding heavily last night so I'm pretty sure it is a chemical but I'll test after to make sure. Thanks for replying x

@Pennyroses yeah, still had all the symptoms because although my HCG was fluctuating it was high enough but it was on and off so it was hard to spot! Ectopics are awful.. especially if you think it's a chemical and already grieve that baby and then you go through it all over again. I'm sorry you lost this one Flowers it will happen for you again x

Pennyroses · 03/03/2025 09:46

@flutterbye99 oh I can only imagine how stressful that must have been for you! 😟 I had a week of being in limbo after finding out and that was bad enough!! All sorts goes through your head doesn't it. Have you ttc since? Hope you're ok now. This is my second chemical after a late loss in 2023. Feel like giving up to be honest! Thought it would be ok this time as my tests were much darker than my last chemical but clearly not 💔 x

@Pennyroses I am currently 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant Grin and I have a scan booked for Thursday at EPU. I have had 6 chemicals and 6 miscarriages and the ectopic.. so this is not new to me! I do also have 3 DC so I really can't complain! It's just all been an issue in the past 4 years! I am stopping at 4 though.. 😂! Just need number 4.. I'm on aspirin and progesterone etc! Apparently I can make them but just can't keep them.. x

curliegirlie · 03/03/2025 10:16

Not that terminology makes a huge amount of difference, as it's the same outcome, but I'd class that as an early MC rather than a CP if you're 5 weeks. So sorry though, it's a horrible situation. I'm nearly 5 weeks myself (20dpo) but starting to get concerned because although I had a 2-3 weeks CB result on Saturday, my One Step tests are no longer further darkening and OPKs are staying negative.....

Can someone please help me?!!
Pennyroses · 03/03/2025 10:22

@flutterbye99 Oh congratulations!! I really hope this one sticks for you 🙏🏼 it's just like an awful lottery isnt it 😢 I also have 3 children already but they're older now and to a previous partner. My current partner really wants a child but he's been diagnosed with a very low sperm count so the odds aren't great. But I've got pregnant 3 times now! Just need one to stick!! I'm 38 too so feel time is running out 😟 But I'm trying to keep hopeful. I've looked into aspirin and progesterone too, there's a lot of success stories!
You are so strong getting through all those losses, I can't even imagine 😢 you've given me inspiration to carry on! Thankyou for your help and advice and I wish you all the luck in the world with this pregnancy 🤞🏼✨

@curliegirlie yes I did think it was kind of on the border. It's been similar to my last chemical at 4 weeks in some ways but I definitely had way more pregnancy symptoms this time and seeing them fade has been hard 😢
I'm so sorry you're in a similar situation. When my lines started fading I was googling like mad trying to find good outcomes and convince myself it would be ok. I did know deep down it wasn't though and wish I'd just accepted it a bit sooner as it's definitely hit me harder this time.
I really hope it's different for you, nobody can really say. If you're not bleeding and tests are still getting lighter I would go to gp and request a blood test and maybe a scan. That was my plan until I started bleeding. Good luck, I hope everything turns out ok for you 🤞🏼

@Pennyroses I'm 34 and my DC are all older and from a previous partner too! My partner also has low sperm count! Not that it actually stopped me from getting pregnant! There is hope.. I promise! The fact that you're still getting pregnant just proves it! I started on Asprin while i was waiting to be referred to the multiple miscarriage clinic and I swear by it now. 75mg - 150mg daily is the recommended dose so providing you have no other blood issues then it would be worth trying as you have nothing to lose. Just keep your chin up.. it will happen for you. 😊 I'm hoping that this one sticks and sticks in the right place. We will see at the scan on Thursday. Dont be down and if you ever are then I'm here for you 😊

Pennyroses · 03/03/2025 10:41

@flutterbye99 oh wow we really are in a similar situation then! It's so hard when you just want to bring that baby home together isn't it 💔 I first got pregnant only 9 months until the relationship with my current partner and this is the one that resulted in a late loss (19 weeks). Until then everything was perfect, I had severe morning sickness, scans were fine and she measured perfectly. I just started bleeding one day out of nowhere and my waters eventually ruptured 😢 It was horrendous but what I'm saying is despite his low count I did get pregnant 'properly' so it shows it's possible. Like you say there is hope and it's just holding onto that somehow and knowing it will work out one day 😊
Thankyou so much, I'm here too if you ever want to talk 🤗 please update after your scan, I'll be keeping everything crossed for you!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼✨✨

It wasn't good news for me. I started bleeding again on Sunday. Earlier that day the CB didn't flip to 3+. I've got an EPU appointment for tomorrow but I know what it's going to show. I feel broken. This took me 3 years. Literally the bleeding started on the third anniversary of my last MC 💔

Pennyroses · 11/03/2025 18:58

@curliegirlie oh I'm so sorry 😔 Have you done any more line tests? I know bleeding isn't always a bad sign but sounds like you have a feeling it isn't right 😔 what about symptoms? Mine were fading as much test lines were fading so I just knew. It's absolutely awful repeated loss isn't it, it's just not fair. I've been through all the feelings this past week, it's so so hard 💔 I'm here if you need to talk 🤗 Let us know how you get on tomorrow, sending lots of love 💕
