Hi folks, I'm trying for a baby aged 41, just wanted to find some other people in the same kind of time in life or people with success stories to help me feel better. I'm 11 days past ovulation and had a negative pregnancy test today and I'm feeling sad. I've got a wonderful 3 year old daughter who was born when I was 37, and I also had a miscarriage when I was 36. Both times I got pregnant really quickly.

I had my first DD at 37, conceived very quickly.

Now 42yo and almost 36 weeks pregnant with DD2.

It took a long time and i'd kind of accepted it wasn't going to happen for us but she's our little miracle.

Good luck

I got pregnant at 40 and 42 fairly easily. If you've got pregnant easily previously you are likely to be ok again. Might just take a bit longer. Good luck

Hi @nchristie I'm 40, have been TTC our second since August. DS is 7.

AF just arrived at 9dpo so looks like I have a short luteal phase. Feeling pretty gutted. Sending baby dust to you, you're not out til AF is here!

I'm 42 and found out a week ago I'm pregnant again after exactly 3 years of trying following a MC of a surprise pregnancy. I was going to call it a day after this cycle!

In my previous pregnancies I took 16 months and 12 months, so I didn't expect it to be a sort ride, but I really wasn't anticipating nearly 40 cycles of it either!

Obviously early days yet....

lynzmb · 27/02/2025 13:10

Oh tentative congratulations @curliegirlie , I've seen you on other threads. Wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy 💓

Baby at 38, miscarriage at 42. Thought that was it. Pregnant at 44. It’s hard. I’m tired. But good luck.

I’m 40 and been ttc 18 months with a new partner
I already have 3 other dc: one took 2.5 years to conceive and the other 2 were quick
🤞🏻 for this year to be the year for us

IdaGlossop · 27/02/2025 16:23

Conceived at 40 and had a miscarriage at 11 weeks. Conceived again at 41. 42 when DD born (first and only child). Keep going!

Cadenza12 · 27/02/2025 16:26

My mum had no children at 36 and 3 by the time she was 42. Absolutely no fertility treatment in those days. You've got a chance, it does happen.

VioIetMoon · 28/02/2025 09:41

Good luck op. I'm turning 40 this year and trying to conceive # 2 also. First was an ivf baby . If we haven't fallen pregnant by summer I think we'll probably opt for trying ivf again as we both have fertility issues

nchristie · 15/05/2025 08:58

Super faint positive 10 days after ovulation (4 days before period due). We've been trying since about January I think.

Hi OP, I had my first baby at 37 and my second at 41yr 7 months . It took me 9 months to conceive the second and it turned out I was significantly going through early menopause and was likely a few years in as my oestrogen levels were in my doctors words extremely low . Periods had stopped completely when I came off the pill which was masking the symptoms. I couldn’t afford IVF and the chance of success at my age were exceedingly low.

i read an article about fertility and perimenopause and there was a link with gut health so I started a course of probiotics (Bio Kult) within a month I had a period , second month had period , third month pregnant with my now 4 year old . I really believe it helped . My maternal grandmother was in full menopause at 39 and it is very likely I was in peri when I conceived my first at 37 I just didn’t make the connection with some weird symptoms I was having. My paternal grandmother had my father 3 months before her 51st Birthday. So it’s not impossible I sincerely wish you the very best.

Hi nchristie, it was an article in a random health magazine that someone had left in the doctors surgery but a google search may help find it. I believe it was an Australian publication. Apologies I can’t be of more help .
