Ovulation date - BBT and OPK

Hi,

Firstly, I know I haven't had three high BBT readings yet so it's not actually fulfilling that criteria. Based on a previous month I do expect this is the first of the three high readings, so assuming it is...

My understanding is a peak OPK indicated ovulation 24-36 hours after, and a rise in BBT indicates you ovulated 24(?) hours before. So people more experienced than me - which day do you think was most likely based on my readings? It doesn't hugely matter as we timed things well either way but I'm enjoying learning about the charts and I'm curious!

If the answer is "could be any of a couple/few days" that's also fine. I know biology isn't always cut and dry, I just know there's a lot of experience on here. Thank you! 😊

PS I also know premom has a prediction on there and that it might change once I get three high BBTs. Like I said, just curious to hear people's opinions!

Have since tested LH today and that's back down to very low levels so the spike is definitely over 😊

Looks like 21/22nd would be the most likely to me?

Hey,

Wouldn’t consider myself an expert by any means, but I have tracked BBT / LH simultaneously.. and done an obscene amount of dr google searches.

Just out of curiosity do you just track on Premom? I have found BBT isn’t great on there nor really considered for ovulation, but it will put the coverline in after the temp rises. I found Fertility Friend more useful for BBT tracking and it confirms ovulation date.

For me personally, I seem to ovulate quite quick after my LH surge which is normally within 24 hours according to my BBT. The one month the two didn’t “tally” up so to speak, my BBT seemed to be more reliable than my LH and it looks like I ovulated 3 days after the LH surge based on my 12 LP and inline with BBT.

Looking at your chart id suggest anywhere between 20-21st was likely ovulation based on LH and BBT. Knowing your LP should help you retrospectively figure out which was more accurate for you!

I did read BBT can take a few days to actually increase correctly but you’ve covered the window regardless so are in with a shot! Good luck ☺️

@KT199 sorry I've only just realised you responded, thank you! That makes sense about being able to backtrack once I get my period and work it out from my luteal phase length. I hadn't thought of that (although I hope my period never comes this month haha!)

Yes, I'm using premom. It's my first month tracking both, if it doesn't happen I might try fertility friend in a month or two.

Good to hear you think it's roughly the same sort of time as I do! Fingers crossed.
