Drinking before BFP (unplanned)

Argh. I must be precisely 5 weeks with an unplanned pregnancy (contraception failure and I already have 2 DC).

In the last week, I have consumed 3 small glasses of red wine and yesterday 2 glasses of cremant at a lunch out. So no binge drinking but steady away in a way I obviously wouldn't if I was trying to conceive. I have had the week off work hence slightly more boozy than usual! If I go ahead with the pregnancy, is this something to be overly concerned about?

You’ll be fine, you didn’t know so don’t beat yourself up. Lots of people have unplanned pregnancies and spend early weeks unaware.

You'll be fine

Many women drink in the early weeks of pregnancy before they find out, even drinking excessively and have no issues.

I found out I was pregnant just after returning from a 2 week holiday during which I drank pretty much every day, cocktails and shots, didn't cause any problems.

I vaguely recall my midwife telling me something along the lines of there not being any risks to baby until a certain gestation because the placenta hasn't taken over yet, so any alcohol or medications taken before that won't effect baby. The reason they advise against drinking is because alcohol can thin your blood and if you have any bleeding it can exacerbate it.

I probably got that completely wrong but she said something like that, I'm sure if you googled it or asked your midwife they'd explain it much clearer.
