Help! Has anyone had implantation bleeding like this?

Six weeks pregnant tomorrow by IVF frozen transfer, so I am on oestrogen and progesterone. 4 week HCG was 179, so a very ‘good’ number. Had v light bleeding on Sunday (pinkish). Didn’t worry too much as I know about IB. Monday, nothing. Tuesday (yesterday AM), short spell of bleeding; nothing like full flow period (which is heavy for me) but red and more than on Sunday. Best way I can describe it is like when you notice the very first bit of a period before the proper flow starts. It would’ve stained a pantyliner but not soaked through. I also had a brief sharp pain in my left side, like a little knitting needle stab. It stopped again. Today, this PM, I have slightly pinkish discharge with pain on left hand side of abdomen at the front. The pain is like a pulling or stretching not a cramping as such and has been there about an hour. Frankly, I feel like this is a miscarriage and I have a scan Friday AM to try to see what is going on but before then I guess I am hoping against hope that this could be IB. I have very strong pregnancy symptoms that are still there (I know this can happen with a miscarriage though). Has anyone had a similar experience with a positive outcome? Or it would even be good to hear about any similar experiences either positive or negative. This would be my third loss (plus I’ve also had two chemical pregnancies). Thanks so much.

I had bleeding/ spotting on and off from around 6 weeks up until 10 weeks, everything worked out this time and i carried twins to 35 weeks both healthy after 5 ivf cycles, 1 chemical and 1 miscarriage the anxiety is awful, i actually bled less from miscarriage than when i was carrying dts, ivf is such a Rollercoaster of emotions try and distract yourself and keep busy until fri (easier said than done) 💐

Wishing you all the best for your scan tomorrow x

Wishing you all the best. I had similar in both successful IVF pregnancies. For the second I also had quite a big bleed at about 6 weeks but the baby was five. Fingers crossed for you.

I had similar. Also ivf. Perfectly healthy pregnancy and DD is 17 now! My niece had the same in her ivf pregnancy recently and also had a healthy baby. Try not to worry as it seems pretty common. Fingers crossed for your scan.

@caffelattetogo @Awishcometrue @Iamthemoom thanks so much for your messages. I ended up having the scan a day earlier as I was getting some pain but everything was fine and they saw a heartbeat. They couldn’t find any cause for the bleeding. The whole thing is just so stressful but I’m trying to count this as a good milestone!

That’s great news! I honestly think lots of healthy pregnancies can have some bleeding and it’s not talked about enough to know it’s relatively normal. It’s terrifying when it happens especially in an ivf pregnancy where we’re already so stressed about it not working. If I could go back in time and give myself some advice it would be to try and relax and enjoy the pregnancy without constant worrying. I hope you can find some way of doing that now your minds been put at rest.

@Iamthemoom you’re so right. I think that the narrative around pregnancy is so often about finding out because of a missed period - not bleeding - and the. bleeding is so associated with miscarriage that all bleeding automatically seems bad. As with so many women’s health things, there is a lack of nuanced messaging, which makes places like this a lifesaver!

Great news! Yes, I fretted a lot and I wished I hadn't. I used to look at the photos of my tests and scans a lot on my phone and the miscarriage odds reassurer made me feel better. It's hard but your body is doing all the right things. Congratulations!
