Bad cramping 6/7 dpo

We have been trying to conceive since September and I don’t use ovulation tests anymore as it makes me a bit obsessed. I think I am about 6/7 dpo.

Last night I had about 10 minutes of really bad cramping, it woke me up and it was like day 1 of getting my period.

This morning it’s gone but feeling a little bit bloated. Has anyone else had this before? I want to get my hopes up for implantation but everywhere online says the cramping is mild.

I’m 3/4 DPO and having the same, on and off. It was really bad this morning, felt like you say just like period.

I do get this often though, from ovulation to period, so for me I don’t know if it’s a symptom.

I have also had it when pregnant, although I think was a bit further along.

I hope it’s implantation for you xx

Lulu89x · 09/02/2025 11:25

I had it non stop 1-4 then 6-10DPO before I caved and took a test.

I also had sore boobs for the entire duration however.

currently 15 weeks pregnant x

Littleonek · 09/02/2025 11:51

I had this last month, no period in Jan or Feb. I think it was a cyst on my ovaries as I've got PCOS. Had bad boob pain for three weeks. All tests negative. The joys of PCOS.

With my first two pregnancies I didn't have implantation pain until a few weeks after I tested positive.

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 09/02/2025 20:23

Thanks to be honest the pain was quite intense and I wondered it could be a cyst or something. I have an ultrasound in a couple of weeks to see about pcos. Fingers crossed it’s not, I’ll be itching to do a test.

hi! I’ve been TTC my first for 14m, and have noticed that I have light period style cramps anywhere from 5-12dpo every month without fail, some months it’s just a few days, and other months it’s most days! This month I had very very bad cramps on 11dpo, so bad that I went to bed at 8pm, and put a tampon in convinced AF would start overnight, but when she didn’t then I was so excited that it was implantation cramps!! Sadly she appeared 15dpo and ruined my life again!! So it was another disappointing month of my body continuing to troll me! Anyway I really hope it means something different for you, but just wanted to give a different perspective! Best of luck xxx

This is really interesting. Do you think you ovulate late and this causes the cramps?

That must be super annoying for you as you get your hopes up.

PoppyPeaches · 09/02/2025 23:00

@Littleonek no I don’t think it ‘s late ovulation as I use OPk’s every month so pretty much know when I ovulate! Some months I’ve had it every day from 6-12dpo too, although some months just the odd few days. I put it down to rising progesterone causing the cramps, but I may also have something like undiagnosed endometriosis (from trying to research it) but I don’t have any other signs of endo. Whatever it is it’s pretty bloody annoying a) because it gets my hopes up and b) because I’m having cramps for half of my cycle!!!!!!

It might be PCOS and your not ovulating and making a cyst each month..if you get an ultrasound done they would be able to see if you had any cysts burst. But on the NHS I waited 6 months for a scan and in that time you wait you may end up pregnant unless you did a private scan eg at womb to window.

PoppyPeaches · 10/02/2025 09:20

@Littleonek its possible! Although I’ve had a scan where my ovaries were normal and bloods that show I’m ovulating etc so the dr didn’t think so, but it must be something! Waiting times so long as you say so think I’m going to pay for some private testing to have my tubes checked etc just to be actively doing something whilst we keep trying, but starting to get my head around the fact might need to consider IVF etc if it doesn’t happen soon 😞😞 xxx

Laidir87 · 10/02/2025 09:47

@PoppyPeaches I have the exact same thing. Cramps on and off from ovulation to period. I also have PCOS as well. The cramps only started like this a couple of years ago though, so maybe something else going on.

I also get sore boobs some months but not others. I’m 4/5 DP(I think)O and trying not to symptom spot lol.

Can I ask, since you’ve had it confirmed you are ovulating, are your cycles regular? Mine are between 29-39 days and I got one peak on ovulation strips this month at CD21 which is my first time using them. I’m going for a blood test on Thursday around 7DPO to see if I’ve ovulated.

PoppyPeaches · 10/02/2025 10:50

Hi @Laidir87 ! It’s nice to hear that someone else suffers from this too, as sometimes I feel that I’m imagining it as the cramps are so light, but I know I’m not!
I’ve had 2x 21day progesterone bloods which were normal and thus suggest that I’ve ovulated, and when I had a pelvic scan they said my ovaries looked normal and not suspicious of PCOS but other than that I suppose I could have it! My periods are pretty regular - usually 29/30 days, although I have had a few 28 and one 31 day cycle in the last 14months since I’ve been tracking.
I find the ovulation strips useful in knowing when it would be best to DTD (as it’s not possible to just do it every day of the month like some people do, for various reasons! 🤣), but it hasn’t yet been successful for us. So hopefully they will be helpful for you! Xx

Laidir87 · 10/02/2025 13:24

@PoppyPeaches Yeah I know, I need to be tracking ovulation too, I get bad UTIs and also with our work commitments definitely cannot do it every day!

Your cycles sound good, and that you are ovulating. Have you been checked for endometriosis at all? My sister has it and we have similar symptoms. I don’t fancy the lap operation to check, but now I’m kicking myself I didn’t ask for it earlier, it was a couple years ago the half the month cramps started for me, and I’m older now and feel time is running out to find out what could be going on.

I hope you get your BFP soon xx

PoppyPeaches · 10/02/2025 19:49

@Laidir87 no I haven’t been checked for endo - when I mentioned in to the doc they didn’t seem that concerned, I guess because I don’t have any of the other symptoms (apart from not getting pregnant), and as the surgery to confirm it is obviously pretty invasive and I would consider my symptoms mild, it was something that was never progressed! I will mention it again though I guess - although I’m not sure whether it’s likely to be affecting my fertility given that my cycles are regular and my uterus was normal on scan - I don’t know!!

im also worried about my age (about to turn 36), can I ask how old you are and how long you’ve been trying? Xxx

Laidir87 · 10/02/2025 23:48

@PoppyPeaches My symptoms are cramping on and off ovulation to period and also like a searing pains at like the base of uterus esp when go to the loo and around period time (which my sister has and she has endo). Like you, I felt the op to look for endo was too invasive and the symptoms don’t bother me much. Although now I’m getting older and waiting lists are long I’m wishing I had.

It’s great that your cycles are regular and you are ovulating. I’m going for bloods on Thursday to hopefully confirm ovulation this month. Has your partner been tested at all? Also I’ve heard of people falling pregnant after a Hycosy which seems slightly less invasive than a full lap op but I’m not sure.

I’m 37.5 and this is second cycle trying. I have much older children (19 and 15) . But I have PCOS and irregular cycles, and I’m that much older now and this cramping I never used to have concerns me, and also DP is nearly 46. Also we cannot dtd all that much for various reasons.

Hoping for BFP for you soon xx

PoppyPeaches · 12/02/2025 21:33

@Laidir87 that’s really interesting - I just have the mild cramping from about 6dpo until AF starts, and then quite painful AF cramps for 2 days before it eases, but no sharp pains or issues with the toilet etc! I also kinda wish I’d come off the pill earlier so I would have realised I had this before actually wanting to TTC, as it just feels too much to try and get a surgery for that at the moment whilst also TTC!
I really hope your bloods tomorrow are positive, best of luck with that! We literally got my partners SA back yesterday, after waiting 4m for the appointment! Thankfully it looks pretty good, the morphology is lower end of normal but everything else is high, so feeling so so happy and relieved! He’s also 43 and has a lot going on the moment (working full time alongside full time uni degree) so thankfully we don’t have to add that to the list of worries! So now we can be referred to the fertility clinic, but depending on the waiting time I may pay for a hycosy privately as I’m worried if it’s a long wait for an appt then another long wait for any treatment I’m just getting older and older and more and more stressed!
has your partner been tested? Wishing you all the best with your appt this week, it’s all soooo stressful!
