Ages of second sibling

Hi all,

I have a 5 and a half year old who I fell pregnant with almost immediately (very lucky!). Unfortunately it hasn’t been so easy the second time round and we have been trying for over a year for our second. I have just turned 35 so worry time isn’t exactly on my side anymore. Partner is in his early 40s so even less so in his case! (I know lots of people do have children at this age btw)

We are doing everything right and very hopeful this will be our year but conscious of the age gap between the siblings if I do fall pregnant. Has anyone got a similar gap? Can you tell me your positives and negatives you have found?

thanks!

Hi, my son is 5 and half and I’m 36, we’ve only just started feeling ready for a second. I know the age gap will be 6 years+ for us but I’ve made peace with it. There are lots of benefits for a small gap but the negatives for us outweighed the positives. Just think of all the lovely bonding time you’ve had with your first. And now hopefully soon they’ll get to enjoy having a sibling ❤️ and understand the pregnancy and go to scans etc. There’s 5-6 years between my sister and I and we are soooo close now x

Hi, the age gap between my two is just over 2 years. I hate it. It's a constant battle of peace keeping, trying to teach them to share but also promoting individual space.
Little one wants to do what the big one does but isn't quite their age wise.
We're now trying for a third and the age gaps at the minimum will now be almost 9 and 6.

We have friends with age gaps like this and it appears much easier / laid back. The big kids get to help and also have their space and the young one is doted on more and gets more individual time with the big ones being at school.
