Flashing Smiley Clear Blue ovulation test!

Hi lovelies!

long story short, I’ve been trying for a year to conceive with my other half. I was on the depo for 2 years and came off/was due my next shot December 2023. I didn’t have a period til roughly June 2024, have been testing daily ovulation strip tests and never ever have got a positive. Honestly it’s been heartbroken to say the least.

Today I’ve tested using the clear blue ovulation tests and it’s flashing a smiley face!! I cried with sheer happiness!! But then I checked the stick and it didn’t even show 2 lines, just 1. Could this be a false positive for ovulation? I’ve BD just incase this afternoon (literally rung my fiancé and told him to immediately come home 😂)

Can anyone share any positive stories or reassurance 😭❤️

Hi @PT1708 the digital ovulation tests don't work the same as regular OPKS, they are testing for two different hormones, so won't show two lines in the same way/timeframe a regular OPK would.

A flashing smiley indicates an oestrogen surge. This happens before the LH surge. The LH surge will show as a static smiley and that will be your peak (there will then be two clear lines on the stick).

Thank you so much for this!

So am I right in thinking it does indicate I’m ovulating? 🥹❤️

Not yet @PT1708 Your body is currently experiencing an oestrogen surge, which is an indication you will ovulate very soon, probably within the next few days. It's not unusual to get 2-5 days (or more) of flashing smileys the first time you use them. Likewise, you might find tomorrow it turns static. It depends on how fast your surge is.

It's why the advice is to have sex when you start seeing the flashing smiley as ovulation is usually within a few days of that.
