I have a very regular 28 day cycle and I ovulate on CD14

The problem is due to work I only see my husband Friday- Monday and for the last 6 months I’ve ovulated on a Thursday meaning that we miss the most fertile days every month.

It’s extremely frustrating and disheartening. We took some leave over Christmas that meant we were about to try on the best days, but no luck. We are in our mid- late 30s so there’s only a 10-15% chance of conception every cycle so taking leave for every cycle until we conceive isn’t really feasible and our work patterns are not going to change in the near future.

I know the morning after pill works by delaying ovulation and I’ve read that ibuprofen can also delay it, so I was thinking…. Could I just knock my cycle off a few days so ovulation shifts to over the weekend going forward? Would this work? Would there be any harm in trying it?

If that’s a total non starter then I guess we would be looking at assisted conception via iui or icsi?

You could get a prescription for norethisterone (sic?) which delays your period a few days, which would reset your cycle onto different dates. I have taken it a few times for festivals, my wedding etc. I think the last time I got it I got an online prescription from Boots or Superdrug. It was super easy and will work!

Thanks so much!. I’ll give it a go because it’s just so frustrating at the moment and a few days would make such a big difference

Yes definitely give it a go! If you do it for your next period you should be good to go next cycle :)
