Hi

I am a bit worried at the moment,I am 35 have PCOS and have done since mid 20s

i do have periods though and usually my cycle is between 30-40 days.. have not gone over 40days in years . My last period was 4th December and this was a 29 day cycle

I had brown spotting around the time I was due on and nothing happened it did not turn into a period

I went for a private scan as I was worried and considering TTC soon

the sonographer counted 28 follicles on my ovaries in total

largest follicle was 12.88 mms which he said was likely to be the mature follicle and would grow to release an egg

my endo lining thickness was 8.36 mm

as I thought maybe my body was gearing up for ovulation soon I started doing tests as these usually are very accurate for me ( I know some women with PCOS cannot use these)

My tests are not detecting a surge at all.. I'm worrying this is peri meno or something ( have health anxiety ) however the sono grapher said from what he saw on the scan I am defo not menopausal

I am now on CD 57 and very worried

what do you make of the scan results and has anyone had anything similar happen? I have been under a lot of stress the last month and was signed off sick

thanks

Stress can stop periods

You are in the same situation as me! I had a day of spotting in Jan and no actual period in December.

Periods can be messed up with pcos. When I was trying years ago I had 3 periods in 12 months. Then got accidentally pregnant twice. Now trying for a third baby.

I was also told by a specialist that ovulation tracking doesn't work for pcos as our hormones aren't right so you can get false positives on the ovulation tests. So don't use them and go by discharge.

I'm due my period I think today.. had nothing just cramps. Been testing like crazy all negative. So just have to see what happens and if it turns up.

@Littleonek I did have an actual period in December but yeah just spotting in Jan so strange !

I know they say OPKs don't work for PCOS but they have always worked for me and I come on my period exactly two weeks after I get a peak without fail .. but as of now nothing and no clue what is going on!

my periods have been pretty regular for the last year so this is very strange ! Hopefully yours comes soon!

That's really interesting! I might try ovulation tracking next month then.

The whole thing is confusing. I've had cramps for two weeks. Mega megs painful boobs and nipples for two weeks.

Period due today... Nothing had a few cramps this morning. I may wait a few days and do another test. Maybe I ovulated super late.

I've found the pmt symptoms the worse then u get no periods so you question if pregnant then turns out you aren't.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with pcos and have cycles that range between 45 and 70 days. In December I was really ill with the flu that was going round, and spotted for 4 days, with period cramps. It never progressed to a period & I was so worried. 4 weeks later I ovulated and then my period came after then. So I think the stress my body was under from being ill caused me to skip a period

Popie123 · 31/01/2025 18:02

I know I am defo not pregnant but I am just really concerned as to where my period is ! This cycle length is not normal for me and I'm not seeing a hint of a postive on the OPKs

I was also ill with the flu a few weeks ago aswell and have been under a lot of stress but the lack of period is making it worse

have any of you taken myo inositol to shorten cycles ? Tbh though my cycles weren't overly long this one is just very weird and worrying me !

@Popie123 i was worried exactly like you were, and annoyingly my body just skipped a cycle. Hopefully it’s similar for you & it will show up soon.
I’m taking myo inositol & also been prescribed metformin from a miscarriage clinic & I think I ovulated the other day on cd17 which is the earliest it’s ever been

Popie123 · 31/01/2025 18:12

@Figtree11 what brand do you take of the inositol? My last cycle was 29 days and I am now on CD 58 with nothing !

i ordered blood tests from hertility weeks ago but your meant to take them on day 3 of your cycle for them to be accurate.. I want to wait as want them as accurate as possible but they told me last week to just do the test if I hadn't come on in a week but I still haven't guess I'm just hoping it comes soon!

@Popie123 i’m using the Zita west myo inositol & folate powder, and order it from Amazon. Have tried tablets but they are huge! Even cutting them in half I found too big to swallow.
The long cycles are just soul destroying, I empathise so much with it, and seeing negative after negative lh strips is hard. Sounds wise to wait until day 3 for the test, otherwise you might worry about inaccurate results you get back

Popie123 · 02/02/2025 13:12

Finally have had a very strong positive on the OPK today! so I am hoping this has just been a case of a dodgy cycle and my period just come in two weeks

That’s great! Hopefully it was just the stress/illness that caused the delay

Littleonek · 08/02/2025 11:54

How are people getting on? I had no period in Jan or Feb. All tests negative. I hate PCOS. Just want a period to work out dates etc.

My crazy boob pain stopped after a week must have been my hormones all messed up. And it's now starting again.

Figtree11 · 08/02/2025 15:01

@Littleonek I’m sorry you are still waiting. It’s the worst. I’m feeling grateful that the metformin is working for me. AF due in next day or two and will be the first time I’ve ever had a 30 day cycle. Not hopeful for a positive test though, but trying to find the positives in the metformin
