Pregnancy Test Query

Hi all,

Yes I know I am going to sound mad and the correct advice would be to stay calm and be patient…BUT 🤣

We have been trying to conceive since October last year without success. However, for the past 6 days I have had lower back pain and VERY sore boobs. So, even though it was 6 days before my period is due I naughtily took a Sainsbury’s test yesterday. Within a minute it read (what looks like positive). So I told my husband who is beyond excited (it his dream!).

i immediately went to get a clear blue digital because I was excited about seeing the weeks calculator. However, it said negative. I took another test this morning - negative!

I haven’t told him because he would be upset.
I am not due on until Monday.

Is there a chance I could still be pregnant??

It’s very early to be testing. The clear blue ones are far less sensitive than most, so it’s most likely that other test is correct and it’s just too early with the clear blue. Test again in a few days and it’ll be clear. Good luck!

Have you tried a first response?

No, is this a good brand?

I mean the test looks positive but the dates don't really work, idk. Take another one!

tiffxxx · 23/01/2025 19:29

@Serenity1990 yeah people have gotten good results with them

Olika · 23/01/2025 20:01

Your test looks a bit pinkish, are you sure you didn't flood it?

What does flooded mean?

What does flooded mean?

I think it means the test got too wet and that's why the line is showing positive

tiffxxx · 23/01/2025 22:21

Yeah it basically means when there's way too much urine on the stick so it's called flooding also do you use a cup or was it straight on the stick

So it is entirely possible that the first test is accurate. Was it an early response one? It is VERY early at 6 days before your period is due assuming a 'perfect' 28 day cycle. That would make you 8dpo. I got my first very faint positives at 9dpo with both my live pregnancies but even that was considered very early (IVF conceptions so dates guaranteed).

Pink dye is renowned for being more accurate than blue dye. The clear blue digitals aren't especially sensitive (and are often just wrong with their dates calculator so if you are of a nervous disposition I'd avoid them!). Having said that, the clear blue digital (not the weeks one) picked up my chemical pregnancy (HCG bloods confirmed) when pink dye didn't so it is a bit hit and miss. Personally I was an obsessive tester and used mostly cheap tests the £1 ones from Home bargains/savers worked well for me.

Fingers crossed it's a true positive. Good luck

For my two children, I didn't test positive until 2 days after my period was due. When I had my ultrasounds they said I ovulated later than I thought. So go by tests after your period is due as I had negative tests before my period was due for both my kids.

I am 8 days away from AF and my test today on a Sainsbury's test looks exactly the same as yours. Im hoping its an actual positive and not a false one.
