When to test?

When do most people test? I'm currently 10dpo after an early loss last month and trying to hold off testing too soon but finding it difficult!

I always told myself to wait to test but the 2ww is so difficult I started testing from 6dpo when we were TTC #2 😂 I'm currently 26 weeks and got my first faint pos at 8DPO, it was much easier to see by 10DPO.. fingers crossed for you ✨

Oh thank you that's exciting! Trying to hold off until tomorrow if I can!

I'm going to test tomorrow too! 😬 I will be 12 DPO and my period will be due. Since yesterday afternoon I've had light pink blood when I go to the toilet and wipe. None in my pants and only sometimes on the tissue. I'm really hoping that it's implantation bleeding as it started at 10 DPO and I never get spotting before my period. Fingers crossed! 🤞

I tested at 10DPO and got my BFP. However I don't think I'd do it again if I was TTC again as I obsessed over chemical pregnancies and serial testing. Most HPT recommend 14DPO. I reckon waiting as long as possible is better for your head as you move away from that chemical pregnancy window. Easier said than done, I know!

I am going to try and wait until 16dpo, because I want to be definite I've missed AF before getting hopes up!

As far as I understand it's 5 weeks. So sorry for your previous loss. Everyone's thinking around it is different but apparently chemical pregnancies are very common and almost to be expected from what I've read.. so I feel like testing later means maybe you wouldn't even know it's happened? And because it's common, it's not necessarily a vital piece of information that you'd need to know exactly. I could be way off here, but that's the conclusion I've come to. I had one chemical the month before conceiving my DS (which took an awfully long time) and I wouldn't ever want to be filled with that very short lived false hope again personally.

I honestly think early testing can be really detrimental to your mental health - it was for me!

You can become obsessed with it, symptom spotting, looking for any tiny shadow.....just look at all the 'line eyes', 'is it/ isn't it', 'is it an evap' and 'false positive' threads on here..... it's really traumatic for some people.
And that's not even to mention how upsetting it is picking up a chemical pregnancy which must women aren't even aware they've had.

Years ago you had to miss two consecutive periods for the GP to consider pregnancy, there was none of this.

In my own case, i tested a good week after my period was due and got a thick, unmistakable line. I didn't test again after that.

I test from 10DPO as it's only a few days till my period. For me waiting for AF to do the first test becomes this big occasion and then it's devastating if it's a BFN. I have a friend who waits till AF, will have all the anxiety and excitement like it's Xmas almost - then test, get a BFN and it will then get her so down. Whereas for me it's gentle disappointment each time I see the BFN so by the time AF comes and it's still a BFN, I've already made my peace with bad news. And managed to get on with my life all the other days with no crushing disappointment.

I see my daily testing from 10-13/14DPO as microdosing bad news! I had a MC at 8 weeks so don't bother with line progression or worrying about chemical pregnancies. Anything can go wrong between that first BFP and birth, so I don't see the point of worrying so early on.

Thanks everyone. I tested this morning at what I think is 12dpo and got BFN.
I'm not actually sure when I ovulated as I started bleeding 23rd December at 5 weeks 4 days and didn't track this month as wanted to wait but then I got my hopes up!
