BBT taken 2 massive dips?

Hi girls

Really hoping someone can help me! I have been trying for a baby for nearly 2 years now. I have endometriosis and had surgery for that end of October where they said I have a good chance of conceiving naturally now. I just started tracking BBT (never did it before as didn't want to get obsessed yet here I am Confused) and I'm worried about the 2 massive dips I'm seeing in my luteal phase... is this normal? I wondered at first if it could be implantation dip (wishful thinking) but now it's happened again I feel hopeless! Has anyone else had this?!

Thank you xx

Hi @tinybabydancer what method are you using to collect your temps, and are you doing it at the same time every single morning before you move out of bed? Is your sleep disturbed at all? If you're up and down during the night, it won't be as reliable and you'd see big peaks and toughs.

I ask because your temp changes from the start are looking quite drastic. It's not unusual at all to have some variation and dips or highs, but if it's consistent and it's hard to see a baseline, it's difficult to determine what's going on.

I temped using my Apple Watch and set it to auto-take my temp at 5am every morning the moment I woke up. I also wore the sensor against the inside on my wrist and hand the strap very secure so no movement was possible. When I wore the watch as intended with the face up on the outside of my wrist, my temperatures were volatile and unreadable.

I've attached a picture of my last chart. You can see a big dip at 6DPO where I had another oestrogen surge. I also set it up to include my resting heart rate, so there are two lines on the graph.

Oops, hit send too quick!

Finally, in a previous pregnancy, I had a massive dip on 9DPO too - the day I got a positive pregnancy test. Your temps have been consistently felt above the ovulation elevations which is good. When do you plan to test?

tinybabydancer · 15/01/2025 17:44

Hi @KittyFantastica thank you so much for this - genuinely really appreciate it as I've been feeling so worried as it's all very new to me. I have been using my Apple Watch and it's set to take my temp every morning at 6am - I do sometimes get up in the night for a wee though so that may explain it!

I have been wearing it normally but I will try to make sure it's tight enough and face it towards my wrist starting from tonight too - that's a really good shout thank you Smile

I caved and tested this morning which was VERY negative, I've also been experiencing extremely bad cramps which I think will be from my endo too.

I am hoping if I make sure my watch is on securely moving forwards the temp might go back above my coverline... as I'm not due on until 20th Jan so feels extremely early to dip! I'll do another test tonight and tomorrow morning although I really don't feel hopeful.

I'll keep you posted and honestly thanks so much, all this BBT makes my head hurt!

Ahh, bless you, it took a month or so for me to realise what was going on with it and as soon as I tightened the strap a bit and wore it on the inside of my wrist, my temps evened out a lot. Hope that works for you!

It sounds as though you're doing everything you can, I've got fingers crossed for you. You're not out until AF arrives, I'll keep my eyes peeled to see how you do xx

tinybabydancer · 15/01/2025 20:41

@KittyFantastica it's a bloody minefield isn't it!!! Thanks so much I'll come back on tomorrow and let you know!

Really hoping for a BFP this month as it's been such a long process so far, but if not at least I can accurately track better for next time! Xxx

@KittyFantastica I think I have a vvvvvv faint line this morning and my temp is back up! But I can't tell if I am imagining it

That looks positive to me @tinybabydancer congratulations! 🥳

brycequinny · 16/01/2025 09:35

@KittyFantastica I've read your replies above which were really helpful. I'm attaching my temp chat and rhr chart. Both dropped this morning - I'm thinking AF is due? Have been worried since I woke up!

I can see it @tinybabydancer! Congratulations! I hope it's the start of something for you! 🤞

I've not used Natural Cycles, so not as well-versed at analysing them, but I can see there is a gradual decline in temp toward today. Is that usual for your cycles? When is AF due?

I don't think one temp dip necessarily means you're out - my temp absolutely plummeted the day I got my positive with my son's pregnancy! Keeping fingers crossed for you!

@KittyFantastica @brycequinny thanks so much! I did 2 more tests as soon as I got in from work and they seem darker so will pick up some more tonight I am in shock!!!! We've been trying for so long and I had a miscarriage this time last year so really hoping all is okay! I was convinced it was a evap this morning.

Good luck @brycequinny!!! I was convinced my period was coming early as I was cramping so bad yday. You're not out until AF is here!

Thank you for all your support and help! Xxx

@tinybabydancer I am so happy for you! Honestly. Keep us updated here!

I feel that way. I've had cramps all day today and temp has dropped. I cried because I was so disappointed 😢 but will all be fine eventually hopefully!

Hi, just been following this thread. Can someone please tell me how to use the Apple Watch to take temps? I didn’t know this was possible x

tinybabydancer · 17/01/2025 14:11

Thanks everyone
@ClaireF992 I think you need to have the latest one or latest update (I've no idea how many watches there are now!!!) and then you make sure it is in sleep mode every night and the time you end sleep mode will take your temp, it then gets stored in the body measurements section of your health app. You have to do it for 5 nights initially so it can get your baseline. For example my sleep is set 10.30pm - 6am so it takes my temp each morning at 6am otherwise it wouldn't be consistent enough! Hope this helps xx

I have endometriosis, however have not had surgery. (On the long wait list 😫) Also been trying for over 2 years and my temperature dropped this morning. This gives me hope ❤️ I hope all is still well x
