Ovulation 1 week early

Hello, I've looked online with not much luck, so I'm hoping to have a bit more insight here. I usually ovulate around day 19/21, and I use the ovulation stripe to monitor this. Usually, I have a slow incline and can gradually see the lines getting darker and darker each day.

This month, my lines were really light, guessing I'd ovulate on day 19, until my stick was really dark this morning at day 13. I've never had this before. Picture attached. Is it normal to go from so low to so high?

My cycles are usually regular. I did have a MMC in November, so I've not long had my first period from it. I've also started acupuncture, do you think that has something to do with it?

Do you think it's a false peak? I don't have much CM, but I never really do around the time of ovulation.

Thanks x

Nope.. happened to me in November. I normally ovulate CD 14/15. I ovulated CD9 and currently 12 weeks pregnant 😂

blackberryhill · 13/01/2025 10:54

Your OPKs look like mine usually do - I go from light lines to a clear positive within 24 hours, and typically get that positive around CD11 - 13. No idea what might've caused it to be early this month but it could be the acupuncture!

Eirlys75 · 13/01/2025 12:50

Thanks both. It's so strange, but my luteal phase is usually shorter because of a late ovulation. So I'm hoping this may help it somehow this month!
@blackberryhill it's good to know that this happens to you! Usually mine is quite drawn out.

@Lulu89x congrats on your pregnancy! Hopefully the same will happen to me 😇

I’m looking to start acupuncture this month, would be good to hear your experience?

It's funny you say this because I had Hijama wet cupping a few days prior to ovulation....

My week early ovulation is nearly two…

BrightLilacCat · 13/01/2025 16:57

I was going to post just this!

I usually ovulate on CD15 but this month and in November I got my peak result on OPKs on CD 11. In November I ended up having a 23 (instead of 28-ish) day cycle so I’m assuming the same will end up happening this month.

My OPKs always go from very light to a high or peak result very quickly and then drop right back down again within 24 hours.

It's hard for me to share my experience as I've only had 3 so far. I will say I felt really different during and coming out of acupuncture. And I've noticed changes; my period was heavier this month and I've ovulated a week early. I'm usually light and regular. I'm definitely continuing acupuncture, even if it's purely for my mental health!

This is a coincidence! Was the cupping fertility related?

How's your luteal phase after early ovulation? Mine has gone down a little today, but it's still the same colour as the control line. Yesterday it was more of a dye stealer. But it hasn't gone light again yet...why are our bodies so complicated?! 😂

@Eirlys75 when I ovulated early in November my luteal phase was one day shorter than it would be for a 28 day cycle. It was a bit of an odd month and I’m expecting the same this month.

In the months where I’ve ovulated early my OPKs turn back to a very low (somewhere in the region of 0.1) one day after ovulation just as they usually would. I don’t ever get a very strong positive though and Premom always reads my peak at about 0.85 but it’s always a huge jump before dropping off again rapidly.

I’ve been researching acupuncture. Are
you seeing someone who specialises in fertility? I’ve found an acupuncture clinic near me that specialise in fertility acupuncture but they want an huge fee just for an initial consultation and not any acupuncture until the next session.

Let us know how the rest of your cycle goes.

Eirlys75 · 14/01/2025 22:41

@BrightLilacCat oh that's great that your luteal phase wasn't really affected too much! I'm hoping mine won't this month. I tend to spot with my short luteal phase, which I believe contributed to fertility issues. It'll be interesting to see whether acupuncture helps with this.

I am seeing someone who specialises in fertility, but they've also specialised in different aspects as well. So it's not just fertility. I don't actually think they advertised themselves as fertility specialists, but when I had my consultation with them, they explained everything and I felt reassured. Maybe that's a better way of doing it? I am also in West Wales surrounded with agricultural land, so prices are very different (lower) than built up areas etc.!

Not at all! It was for my back / tension in my muscles as I do weight train 4-5x a week. In 3.5 years tracking ovulation etc I’ve never had a blip or a pregnancy scare.. until now. 😆

Eirlys75 · 15/01/2025 16:36

@Lulu89x haha, amazing! Hope the 12 weeks have been okay for you so far. Maybe I need to get the cupping done! 😂

Thank for the extra info on your acupuncture. I’ll have another look at see if I can find someone who isn’t quite as expensive!

Haha it couldn’t hurt! The first 9 weeks were absolute hell! I weigh less now than pre pregnancy as I was constantly nauseous, tired and just didn’t feel like eating! Now i’m feeling much better thank God! If you do try out acupuncture or cupping, report back! Good luck😄
