CoQ10

I see a lot of posts about CoQ10. Did a lot of people fall pregnant straight away after starting it?

Where are people buying it from and what dosage please?

I got pregnant the cycle after both DH and I started taking 600mg daily. Can't guarantee it was down to the CoQ10 but after 9 months trying it felt like it might have helped!

I got some from Amazon. I only started taking it because it is recommended for over 35's as it apparently improved egg quality.

This happened to me with my first, I don’t even know if a month was long enough to get in my system but I took the same dose off Amazon in the Dec/Jan then fell pregnant at the start of Feb.

Floomobal · 09/01/2025 18:18

I heard about it on these threads. Trying since June, took coq10 from November, got pregnant in December.

It might have just been that it was always going to take a few months, but I thought it’s unlikely to cause any harm, and might help.

So many of these supplements are so expensive. I bought some cheaper ones on Amazon which were 300mg. Made by Intelligent Health

Bettinapink · 09/01/2025 18:41

I took this before an IVF cycle along with DHEA for 6 months. I got one extra egg at collection than I did previously. I now have a baby. Is hard to say if it helped but I am glad I took it!

brycequinny · 09/01/2025 19:07

These all sound like very convincing success stories! It's our first cycle TTC but coming onto this board I've seen it mentioned so many times so if it doesn't happen this month I'll order off Amazon and get started straight away

It’s one of the things mentioned on it starts with the egg book - I’ve been trying for 13 cycles and just started taking it so everything crossed 🤞

Best of luck! 🤞 when are you due to ovulate?

What else does the book recommend?

Some people say it can mess up their cycles with it, length them, but I’ve also read that could be a good thing cause it’s longer for egg to mature? I’m not sure how true?

we’re on 5th TTC and if it hasn’t worked this month I’m going to try taking them again!

Good Luck OP!

I started it in June and got pregnant in August. Though I was doing other things too so not sure if it was coq-10 alone.

Besides getting Ubiquinol at H&B I started taking another supplement that I cannot remember name for. It said not to take it if breastfeeding or trying for a baby but I took it first 13 days of my cycle and then waited to see if my periods arrived to take it again. It got recommended by a sales person at H&B who had researched more into fertility for her friend who was struggling. As my BMI was high I also started 16:8 intermittent fasting to drop some weight.

Olika · 09/01/2025 20:41

Also to add I changed from Pregnacare to Proceive Max.

overthinkersanonnymus · 09/01/2025 20:44

I've been ttc for nearly 3 years and just started taking coq10 last month after reading about it on here.

I'm only taking one pill though (300mg) so not sure if that's enough?

How old are you?
I think over 35 you need 600mg a day

overthinkersanonnymus · 09/01/2025 22:31

@carolinep3 shit, I'm 38 😂. I'll start double dropping the 300mg

CharLdn · 10/01/2025 06:36

@brycequinny

mediterranean diet with lots of protein and vegetarian focus

Less toxic stuff in your life like natural cleaning products, glass Tupperware, tinned foods, no perfum etc.

coq10, DHEA and vitamin D supplements.

I found it really useful as a guide because I’ve been struggling with unexplained infertility.

Its all about improving your egg quality.

sirensong · 12/01/2025 17:18

There is actually almost no evidence it makes any difference. I've spoken to many consultants. No harm in taking it - I do just in case - but manage expectations. General good diet and decent activity level will be more important.

Floomobal · 12/01/2025 20:34

Five randomized-controlled trials fulfilled eligibility criteria (449 infertile women; 215 in CoQ10 group and 234 in placebo/no treatment group). Oral supplementation of CoQ10 resulted in an increase of CPR (clinical pregnancy) when compared with placebo or no-treatment (28.8% vs. 14.1%, respectively; OR 2.44, 95% CI 1.30–4.59, p =0.006; I2 32%). This effect remained significant when women with poor ovarian response and polycystic ovarian syndrome were analyzed separately.

this is copied and pasted from a clinical study I read, which is why I started taking coq10

overthinkersanonnymus · 15/01/2025 17:25

Hey, so I've added co q10 and DHA to my vitamins about 4 weeks ago and, it may be a coincidence, but I'm not having any ovulation symptoms at all.

I usually start getting ewcm around cycle day 8/9 and I'm not on day 12, dry as a bone!

Has anyone else noticed an effect on ovulation on these vitamins?

Nosejug · 11/02/2025 10:51

Hey @overthinkersanonnymus . Just reading through this thread (I'm also 3 years ttc and just started taking ubiquinol (coq10 in its recommended form for egg improvement). I can't say if there's been any change yet as I had ivf dec-jan so this cycle was always going to be longer.

When you said you're taking dha, is that dhea? Only I was recommended dhea purely for ivf to increase the number of eggs retrieved, but there are side effects so I didn't end up taking them. Maybe that could be extending your cycle? Are you doing ivf? Apologies if it's a whole other supplement called dha. For three years in ttc I know alarmingly little!

overthinkersanonnymus · 11/02/2025 11:24

@Nosejug these are the supplements. I don't know if these are different to what you were recommended? I'm not doing ivf.

Nosejug · 11/02/2025 11:30

@overthinkersanonnymus yeah I think I'm just confusing the two as they have similar names. I'll look into dha for myself! Hope your ovulation comes soon.
