Positive One Step But Negative Clearblue

For the last few days I've been getting faint lines on One Steps, but Clearblues are stark negative. I know Clearblues are awful, but I'm not even getting an evap line on them. I honestly can't see how I've been given 3 false positives in a row on the strip tests. I'm 12dpo confirmed ovulation via OPKs and I'm on cd41. Period was due yesterday/today, but as my cycles range from 17-39 days it's hard to tell when I'm due. What am I doing wrong? I dip my tests and read them within the timeline. I'm done with being heartbroken every month from false lines

I had a quick Google and I found quite a few posts on various sites complaining about those one step tests giving faint false positives. So I’d bin them off in the future. I always found easy at home strips reliable. But others possibly have bad experiences. Agree with never using clear blue.

I'm just heartbroken. I knew about getting false positives as a one off, but this is multiple in a row which seems impossible. But suppose if it's a faulty batch it could be. Just a waiting game now

Do you have any other brand of test? Or could you grab one? If 2 other different brands are negative and it is only the One Step with 2 lines then you know it’s cruel faulty tests x

Mrsttcno1 · 02/01/2025 11:58

So sorry OP I also just googled and there’s a post on another site from a woman who had 7 tests like yours, One Step, all other negative. It seems they are another that are now known for this x

This is how they've dried. None of these are positive, are they? Top is from a few days ago, one at the bottom is today.

I’m sorry OP no none of those look positive, the top 2 look like nasty evap lines x

Can they still be evaps though even if the lines came up straight away? I can't understand why every one of these tests are coming up with a line. Think I'm out anyway as just started cramping badly, so AF will be here soon

Have a Google about those tests. You’ll see it has happened to lots of other people. So while they may not be “evaps” in the official sense, they are not real positives. Some tests get dye runs or indent lines. So whatever you want to call what’s happening with those I don’t think they are real.

I’ve had evap lines on clear blue that come up after an hour. I’ve had indents on FRERs that come up instantly. I’ve had dye runs on the cheap strips when they’ve flooded. I don’t think any brands are fully safe. Never trust a line until it’s thick and strong and ideally confirmed by a digital.

Yeah, although it wouldn’t technically be an evap but just dye run/indent/faulty test. I’m sorry OP it is so hard when you’re desperately wanting those two lines. For what it’s worth when I was trying for my daughter last year I used “easy @ home” tests and never had any issues with evap’s on those, only had 2 lines when I was actually pregnant, and then I confirmed with a digital test so I would recommend those ones and they aren’t crazy expensive either, I ordered a box from Amazon for around £10 I think. I’d definitely use those if/when we try for another baby, so many brands now are known for evap’s (especially Clear Blue) x

So I've just dipped the remaining tests in water, and all 10 had very strong pink lines. Disappointing as I've used these many many times over the years with no problems. Atleast I have my answer now. I know you're not out until AF shows, but I just have that gut feeling it won't be this cycle..

AF showed up today. Will be contacting my gp and demanding further tests as there has to be a reason it's not happening
