Ovulation Pains

Hello wonderful MNers :-)

just wondering if anyone can relate. I get ovulation pains. For the past few years they’ve been similar in pain level to that of a period - ya know, bearable. Last month and this month, absolutely debilitating and excruciating 😭

Does anyone else suffer? Would anything account for the change in pain levels? (I know you’re not doctors etc just wondering from your experiences!)

thanks in advance x

I am 3 years post menopause now but used to experience Mittelschmerz every month. I could tell which side I ovulated on and was surprised that not every woman experienced them. If things have changed and you are finding them very painful, I would go and speak to your GP. Mine were worse when I had an ovarian cyst.

Thank you! Yes I know the feeling - the main side is the left. Makes me wonder if I actually ovulate from my right or if the right ovary is more chilled haha! Do you think I need to see a doc to see if it’s a cyst? Or is it one or those things that just goes away xx

I would go and get checked, it could be nothing and just how your body reacts to ovulation. At least you know that you are ovulating which is a positive if you are hoping to conceive. Paracetamol does help with the pain but getting checked will reassure you that everything is ok.
