Why has FF changed my ovulation date? Help pls!

I usually ovulate on day 17 but I got a peak opk and a static smiley on a clear blue digital on CD 14 and this was also the only day I had a big glob of ewcm. So FF marked the 14th as ovulation day and the temp rises seem to make sense but after entering todays temp it’s suddenly decided cd 16 was ovulation day? Can anyone see why? I still think it should be CD14? We only managed to have sex on cd14 so I feel like if cd16 was ovulation then we might be out again this month.

Also, should the clear blue digital be marked in the ‘advanced opk’ bit? I never know if I should do this! Would I mark it as ‘peak’ on cd 14 as that’s when the static smiley appeared?

thanks!

Hi @Yellowdaff25 it's because the app is designed to confirm ovulation has happened via noting a minimum of 3 elevated temp readings in a row. The temps raise and stay raised consistently after day 16, so that's where it's put ovulation.

I don't always find it super helpful for pinpointing ovulation, but it can be helpful to see if my temp stays raised afterwards. My temp rises are always gradual and usually take 2-3 days. So either my temp takes a few days to actually rise (not unheard of) or I've had positive OPKs and then ovulated 24-48 hours after my peak (also not unheard of).

Thanks! That makes sense! x

No worries @Yellowdaff25 Going by what the graph shows, it's likely your peak arrived and then you ovulated 36-48 hours later, so I'd say 3DPO is probably accurate. Good luck!

The thing to remember is that sperm can live for days inside you so it's actually better to have sex before you ovulate. As long as you have sex every fee days around the window you'll be fine.

From your chart I would agree with ff about the cd16 being the most likely.

Also if it helps we only dtd two days before ovulation and conceived from it and now I’m 23 weeks pregnant. Last time with my son we dtd on ovulation day so like you I thought it was a lower chance this time. However we didn’t dtd after the -2 days before and conceived.

Ovulation typically takes place 24-48 hours after your static smiley.

I got a static smiley on CD15 this cycle, based on scans my baby is dating from CD17 so was spot on for me
